Today, on International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, we mark the progress made on the rights of LGBTIQ+ people.

It is unacceptable that LGBTIQ+ people continue to face discrimination, harassment, and violence for being who they are.

Ireland will continue to call for further steps to realise the full equality of LGBTIQ+ persons at home and globally.

Ambassador McGarry was delighted to join President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin and fellow Ambassadors in 🇨🇭for an excursion to the President’s home canton of Vaud today. It was fascinating to visit the underground pumped-storage hydropower plant of Veytaux and later the Genolier Innovation Hub.

A wonderful opportunity to also discuss with President Parmelin the very strong 🇨🇭- 🇮🇪 relationship, which we will further build upon with high-level exchanges during Ireland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

As part of the Irish Changemakers series, which shines a spotlight on the impressive work of Irish people abroad, the Embassy in Switzerland is proud to present Alice Clarke.

Originally from Meath, she now practises, researches and teaches at the Architecture of Territory Chair at ETH Zurich and is a founding member of BothAnd Group. In this interview, she discusses how her work in Switzerland is shaping more sustainable and responsible approaches to design and the built environment, and explains how she incorporates an Irish perspective into her approach to building for the future.
