4.5 billion people still don’t have full access to essential health services.

This , we’re reminded that health is interconnected. Human health depends on the health of animals, plants, and the environment around us.

Through the One Health approach, tackling forgotten diseases and working across sectors helps protect everyone, regardless of background, gender, or circumstance.

The UK is committed to promoting the rights and equality of women and girls everywhere. Women’s safety is essential for equality, yet 1 in 3 women globally will be beaten or sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Violence against women and girls is a global emergency, and it is preventable.

On International Women’s Day, we marked the importance of continued focus on this emergency.

We also celebrated women’s resilience, creativity and potential, particularly in difficult circumstances. In that context, we welcomed artist Kirstie Macleod and - a powerful piece of art created by 350+ women and individuals worldwide, often in the face of hardship.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this remarkable work and the voices it carries.
