The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Mr. Luis Alonso Amaya, Director General of Civil Protection, Prevention and Mitigation of Disasters of El Salvador, on 4 September 2026.

They discussed ways to further strengthen practical cooperation between the ICDO and El Salvador, including training, capacity-building, exchanges of expertise, and the ICDO’s broader engagement with El Salvador and countries across the region.

The Secretary-General also briefed Mr. Amaya on the ICDO’s ongoing institutional modernization process, with both sides underlining the importance of strengthening Member States’ engagement in the Organization’s activities and initiatives.

The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on 31 August 2026.

The discussions focused on further advancing practical cooperation between the ICDO and Nigeria, particularly through training programmes, exchanges of expertise, and cooperation in civil protection.

The two sides also discussed the ICDO’s ongoing institutional reform and modernization efforts, and the importance of strengthening Nigeria’s active engagement in the Organization’s initiatives.

The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Ms. Armela Nguema, Director General of Civil Protection of the Gabonese Republic, on 24 August 2026.

They discussed ways to further strengthen practical cooperation between the ICDO and Gabon, including closer engagement in the Organization’s training programmes and statutory sessions.

They also exchanged views on the ICDO’s ongoing institutional reform process and the importance of strengthening engagement with Member States, while expressing appreciation for Gabon’s support for these efforts.

Both sides expressed their interest in further advancing cooperation and practical engagement.

The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Colonel Theodoros Lemoniatis, Acting Commander of the Cyprus Civil Defence Force, on 17 August 2026.

They discussed further strengthening the longstanding cooperation between the ICDO and Cyprus, including joint training and emergency planning, expert exchanges, and opportunities for Cyprus to host joint training activities with the ICDO.

Discussions also covered the ICDO’s ongoing institutional reforms and emphasized the importance of strengthening Member States’ active engagement in these initiatives, while expressing appreciation for Cyprus’s support for these efforts.

Both sides expressed a shared interest in advancing joint initiatives and further strengthening the partnership.

On 13 August 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held a meeting with Mr. Idris Latreche, Permanent Representative of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the UN Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland.

The discussions focused on further strengthening the longstanding ICDO–Algeria partnership, including expanding joint training, capacity-building programmes and initiatives.

The Secretary-General also briefed Mr. Latreche on the ICDO’s ongoing reforms and modernization efforts, while Algeria’s strong and continued support for these initiatives was highly appreciated.

The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to deepening cooperation in civil protection and disaster risk reduction.

On 12 August 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Brig. Gen. Abou El Maali El Hadi Sidi Ould Amer, Director General of Civil Protection and Crisis Management of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

The discussions focused on further developing the longstanding ICDO–Mauritania partnership, including closer engagement in training and capacity-building activities.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on disaster preparedness and opportunities for closer cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

On 10 August 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon, Director General of Ghana’s National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

The discussions focused on strengthening Ghana’s engagement with the ICDO through capacity-building and technical cooperation, while addressing priorities in disaster preparedness, resilience and response.

The meeting also covered the ICDO’s ongoing institutional development, preparations for the upcoming statutory sessions and ways to further strengthen cooperation among Member States.

On 7 August 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with General Dr. Roden Loro Karlo, Commissioner General of the National Civil Defence Service of the Republic of South Sudan.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and South Sudan, enhancing the country’s engagement in the Organization’s activities, and expanding practical cooperation.
