BioTrade is the commercialization of goods and services derived from biodiversity that respects the environment and those who depend upon it.

The BioTrade Initiative is a partnership programme of UN Trade & Development (UNCTAD) that promotes sustainable trade and investment of biodiversity-based products to improve livelihoods & conserve Earth in more than 80 countries. Our work:
- We work with countries, companies, and organizations to develop sustainable and biodiversity-friendly value chains in the business sector.
- We work with gov

ernment policy makers on enabling policy environments on biodiversity related issues (e.g. NTMs, Nagoya Protocol)
- Global sales of BioTrade-related products reach over € 9 billion (USD 10.26 billion) (2020)
- BioTrade has 5 million direct beneficiaries and focuses on flora and fauna, both marine and terrestrial, and ecosystem services (e.g.
