International Labour Organization

International Labour Organization We are the ILO, the UN agency for the world of work. Advancing social justice, promoting decent work.

The International Labour Organization is the United Nations agency for the world of work. We bring together governments, employers and workers to drive a human-centred approach to the future of work through employment creation, rights at work, social protection and social dialogue. Founded in 1919, we are the only 'tripartite' organization in the UN family that brings together representatives of g

overnments, employers and workers to jointly shape policies and programmes. This unique arrangement gives the ILO an edge in incorporating knowledge about employment and work.

🌍 Football speaks every language. And today, we're proud to have one of Georgian football's biggest names raise their voice with ours.

FC Torpedo Kutaisi - one of the title favourites and current leaders in Georgia's 2026 Erovnuli Liga season, and a club with four national championship titles to their name - is joining the ILO's campaign to show a 🟥 Red Card to Child labour.

Around the world, 138 million children are still engaged in child labour - denied their right to education, safety, and simply being a child. Footballers are among the most trusted voices for young people globally, and together we can turn that influence into action.

Off the pitch, Torpedo Kutaisi has long championed social responsibility in Georgia - supporting quality education, gender equality, and reduced inequalities. That same commitment is what makes them the perfect partner for this cause.

❗️Join FC Torpedo Kutaisi and the ILO. Show a Red Card to Child labour. Share this post. Speak up.

On 6 June 1926, the International Labour Organization inaugurated its first permanent headquarters in Geneva — the first building specifically designed for an international organization.

Now known as the Centre William Rappard and home to the World Trade Organization - WTO the building has stood for a century as a landmark of international Geneva and multilateral cooperation.

Designed by Swiss architect George Épitaux, it was conceived as a “house of labour”: a space dedicated to dialogue between governments, employers and workers. Its inauguration symbolically reflected that mission, with three keys used to open the main entrance — representing the ILO’s tripartite structure.

A century later, the building remains closely linked to the ideals of justice, peace and cooperation that shaped the ILO’s founding vision.

138 million children are still in child labour.

This is a global emergency that demands urgent, sustained action. Every child should be in school, learning and protected from harm — not in child labour.

On this World Day Against Child Labour, raise the Red Card to Child Labour. Mobilize, speak out and act to turn the Marrakech commitments into real change for children, families and communities everywhere.
