The Library in English

A collection of more than 10,000 books in English in the heart of Geneva, Switzerland. Our doors are always open to the community.

We have been serving the English-speaking community in the Geneva region since 1930. Visitors are welcome to come in to browse our collection, read the newspaper or news magazines, research a student project, or plan a vacation using our travel guides. Only Library members may check out books on loan.

FIRST EDITION OF “THE HANDMAID’S TALE” BY MARGARET ATWOOD FOR SALE AT THE LIBRARY IN ENGLISH

We rely on your donations and membership fees to keep our collection up to date and to stay open. The vast majority of our staff are volunteers. Funds go towards keeping the collection up to date & our doors open.

Copies of this first edition sell easily for over 400CHF. We would love to find it a new owner who will appreciate it.

Please get in touch if you would like to make an offer. All of your payment will be used to support the Library in English. Payment by cash or TWINT only at the Library, no shipping available.

FOR SALE: FIRST EDITIONS!

We have received these wonderful modern first editions, many signed by the author, for which we would like to find the perfect home. They are in excellent condition- some haven’t even been read.

Each book is for sale individually for CHF20.- during opening hours from the Library in English.

All proceeds go directly to The Library in English, which relies on donations, memberships and book sales to remain open and keep its collection up to date.

SOLD! Thank you so much!

Sometimes we receive special donations for which we would like to find the perfect home.

We recently received a signed first-edition of “Walk Through Walls: A Memoir” by Marina Abramović.

This book will be available to purchase during opening hours from The Library in English for CHF 60.- Payment by cash or TWINT in person only.

All donations to & purchases from the Library keep our collection interesting and up to date & allow us to keep the Library open. We wouldn’t exist without your generosity!
