ADVISORY TO THE FILIPINOS IN GENEVA AND VAUD

The Philippine Mission and Consulate in Geneva advises Filipino residents, tourists from the Philippines, and members of Philippine delegations participating in activities of the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva to exercise heightened vigilance in view of the G7 Summit to be held in Évian-les-Bains, France, from 15 to 17 June 2026.

Swiss and French authorities have announced enhanced security measures in the Lake Geneva region, including increased law enforcement presence, stricter border controls, and possible traffic disruptions. Geneva is likewise expected to serve as an important entry and egress point for several official delegations attending the Summit. Travelers should therefore anticipate longer processing times at airports and border crossings, as well as possible adjustments to transport arrangements.

In addition, authorized demonstrations related to the G7 Summit are expected to take place in Geneva, including on 14 June 2026. While local authorities have put in place measures to facilitate the peaceful conduct of such activities, members of the Filipino community are encouraged to avoid demonstration areas, remain attentive to their surroundings, and follow instructions issued by Swiss authorities.

Filipinos in Geneva and Vaud are encouraged to:

● Monitor official advisories issued by Swiss federal, cantonal, and local authorities;
● Allow additional travel time, particularly when travelling to and from Geneva Airport, border crossing points, major transport hubs, and central Geneva;
● Verify travel routes in advance and make the necessary adjustments to travel plans, especially for cross-border travel between Switzerland and France, in view of temporary border restrictions and closures;
● Confirm meeting schedules and venue access arrangements in advance, particularly for those attending conferences, negotiations, and events at the United Nations and other international organizations;
● Carry valid passports, residence permits, conference badges, and other identification documents at all times, as identity checks may be conducted at border crossings, transportation hubs, and other areas subject to enhanced security measures;
● Avoid areas where demonstrations or large public gatherings are taking place;
● Exercise caution in crowded places and remain attentive to their surroundings; and
● Inform family members or colleagues of travel plans and maintain communication, particularly when travelling across the Swiss-French border.

All are encouraged to remain alert and to take reasonable precautions during this period of heightened security and increased movement restrictions in the region.

Filipino tourists are likewise advised to check with airlines and transport providers regarding any schedule adjustments and to allot sufficient time for airport procedures and cross-border travel.

For emergencies involving Philippine nationals within the Mission's jurisdiction, Filipinos may contact the Philippine Mission's emergency hotline at +41791369114

The Mission will continue to monitor developments and provide updates, as necessary.
