Old meets new in the heart of Riga 🤝

Just north of the Daugava River, a remarkable renovation project shows how historic architecture and modern design can work beautifully together.

The original building keeps its traditional character and warm timber details, while the new upper floors introduce a bold contemporary look with clean white Swisspearl Carat fibre cement panels. The result is a striking balance of contrast and cohesion — where heritage is respected, but the future is clearly visible.

Award-winning zero carbon homes 🏆

At Stables Yard in London, Swisspearl facade solutions helped create modern zero-carbon homes that combine energy efficiency, durability, and striking architectural design.

The project received both the “Best Use of Fibre Cement Cladding” and “RCI Project of the Year” awards at the 2023 Facade Awards, and was also shortlisted for the Architects’ Journal Best Housing Project of the Year award.

A building with history — reimagined for the future.

Originally constructed in 1923, the LH residential building in Varna has been transformed into a vibrant contemporary residence while preserving the character and spirit of the original architecture. Instead of demolishing the old structure, the architects at STARH chose to build upon it and thereby keeping the historic facade and integrating it into a new five-storey design. The new extension of the original two-story building is clad with three types of Swisspearl panels that are perfectly matched to the tone of the plaster adding an elegant transition between the two structures.

The result is a beautiful example of how thoughtful renovation can connect past and present while giving buildings a new life for future generations.
