04 August 2026, Santiago – The Philippine Embassy in Chile rallies behind the members of the Philippine National Team Alas Pilipinas Girls, as they gear up to compete in the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship, scheduled from 06 to 16 August 2026, to be held in Gimnasio Liceo Mixto in San Felipe, Chile.

The Philippine Ambassador to Chile, H.E. Celeste Vinzon-Balatbat, hosted a welcome lunch in honor of the 12-member squad and their coaches.

“It’s wonderful how sports is part of your life as young women. Sports help develop your character, self-discipline, grit, and self-care. Sports teach you to deal with the ups and downs of life with emotional maturity by showing both wins and losses as a normal part of your experiences,” said Ambassador Vinzon-Balatbat, as she addresses the crowd.

The Alas Pilipinas Girls are set to open their campaign against world no. 1 and defending champion China on 06 August, before they face Mexico (07 August), Tunisia (08 August), Peru (10 August), and Venezuela (11 August).

Ambassador Vinzon-Balatbat assured the Embassy’s support saying, “We will be there to cheer you on."

The Philippine Embassy calls on the Filipino community and volleyball enthusiasts to rally behind Alas Pilipinas Girls as they showcase grit, grace, and Filipino pride on the international stage.
