CHAPTER 25
Olive's eyes fluttered open and she looked around . Her head was pounding and she kooked around curiously. Where was she? What happened? Judging by the white walls and the machines beeping around her was prove that she was in a hospital.
She tried sitting up but felt her body hurt. That was when she noticed Phyna seated on a stool by her bed with her head laid on the bed.
"Phyna?" She called softly and winced as her throat hurt.
Phyna immediately sat up and rushed to pour her water.
"Here, have a drink". Phyna said handing her the glass of water. She drank all the contents and handed the glass back to Phyna who was gazing at her with concerned eyes. "Thank God you are okay. I was beginning to have a heart attack".
"I'm fine Phy. I just want to sit up now". Olive said. Phyna held her hand and helped her sit up. She was dressed in a blue hospital gown. She looked pale and there were some bruises on her body.
"How are you feeling? Are you alright? Do you feel pain anywhere?"
"Yes. My whole body hurts and I feel so weak".
"God Olive. You got everyone really scared especially the kids, Snow and Emerald. Do you remember what caused the fire?" Phyna asked looking at her best friend with a keen gaze.
The fire!
That's it. She was in the library studying when that strange man came again and began telling her ridiculous things. He set the library on fire.
"I don't know". She answered. It wasn't a lie since she didn't know what was the cause of the fire. "How's everyone?" She asked suddenly worried about her friends and school mates.
What if someone died? What if one of her friends didn't make it out of the fire? And worse who saved her?
"Come on Olive. You were the one caught in the fire". Phyna said before she paused. She took a deep breath before speaking again. " Look I know what I'm about to tell you will sound strange and absurd, but no one was caught in the fire".
Olive looked at her friend like she was crazy. Unless school was over by then, people must have been caught in the fire.
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean is, the fire didn't spread to any other part of the school. It just burned down a good number of books in the living before it was put out". Phyna explained and a laugh escaped Olive.
"I was in the fire accident but I'm sure you are the one who has hit her head somewhere". Olive said and shook her head amused. " The laboratory is next to the library and contains a lot of flammables. There's no way the fire didn't spread".
"I don't know how it happened Olive but no other part of the school looks like a fire passed through it". Phyna said.
Her serious expression made Olive rethink. The man looked strange and suspicious. He also said some things about supernatural stuff. What if..
"Where's Emerald? I need to talk to him". Olive demanded and Phyna nodded.
"I'll go get him. Take care of yourself and I'll see you later". Phyna said. With a kiss on her friend's cheek Phyna stood up and left the ward.
Olive sat there lost in thoughts. She didn't even notice the door open till she heard footsteps approaching her. She turned her head to see Emerald and a doctor.
"So Olive how are you feeling ". The doctor inquired as he checked the oxygen tank which was attached to a pole by the bed.
"My whole body hurts ". She complained.
"Don't worry. You'll be fine in no time. ". The doctor assured.
"Can I go home?" She asked. Eh always hated hospitals.
The scent was nauseating and the beeping noises were so damn irritating.
"Well, I'll just get the test results then you will be free to go home. You will wear the nasal cannula for some time, till your oxygen level is balanced and your lungs can regulate it ". The doctor said before turning to Emerald. " I'll be on my way now Mr DeVille".
Emerald responded with a nod and the doctor walked out. He instantly rushed to Olive and sat on the bed.
"Princess. God I've missed you ". He said pulling her into his arms.
He held her tight and breathed in her scent. The scent he had missed so much. The one he thought he lost. The heavens know he would have gone crazy if hadn't woken up. " You scared me princess. I thought I'd lost you ".
"I'm sorry ". Olive muttered Melting into his embrace. She also missed him.
Emerald held onto Olive refusing to let go. He truly felt like he had lost her.
When he arrived at the school and materialized into the library. He had felt like his heart was being ripped out when he saw Afara picking up and unconscious Olive.
God! He didn't know how he was supposed to exist without her. He had been worried sick ever since the doctor told them she might take a while to wake up.
"Don't ever scare me like that again". He said pulling away from her to stare at her face. He traced the band-aid on her forehead with his finger
"I'm sorry". Olive said with a pout and Emerald gave her a quick peck. "Can I ask you something?" Olive said looking at him.
"Shoot". Emerald responded. He knew that there was no way to escape the inevitable. Whatever Olive would ask now and the answers he would give are going to determine their tomorrow.
"The person who was in the library with me before it caught on fire, said something really ridiculous". Olive paused and exhaled. " He said that you were someone called Azreal and are some angel s**t".
"What do you want to know Princess?" Emerald asked running his hands through his hair.
"Everything, because I'm so confused right now ". She replied and Emerald let out a deep sigh. " Look, that guy in the library was the same guy who appeared out of nowhere the other day and told me to stay away from you or I die. He also mentioned something about Serion and Luciana and....." She paused and shook her head several times. Everything was just so confusing and she might go crazy if Emerald didn't give her answers.
"Emerald please. I just need answers ".
"Fine ". Emerald finally said after looking at her for a long while. He stood up and moved to the window giving his back to her.
"Everything Chaos told you was right. I'm Azrael the angel of death. James, the bastard who assaulted you, is a fallen angel. He was once an angel like me. He fell in love with a beautiful woman named Luciana . However the heavenly hosts were against their love. They ordered for me to take Luciana's soul,".
"Y... you mean kill her?" Olive asked, shock building up in her system.
"No Princess. Chaos was the one who killed her. I just collected her soul and delivered it to where she was supposed to be. However James didn't accept it so he tried stood against it. His disobedience caused him to be banished from heaven and stripped of his powers "
"So that's what will happen to us?" Olive asked, tears welling up in her eyes.
"No Princess I'll protect you. I'll make sure no one harms you". He said turning to look at her. Before any of them could say anything the door opened and Afara walked in. She was in her human form and wore a simple floral dress.
"Emerald, you are summoned now!" She said, her voice extremely serious.
"Will you look after her?" He asked and she let out a smile.
"Go. I'll take her home after she's discharged". Afara promised. Emerald transformed to his angel form and moved to Olive. He placed a kiss on her cheek.
"I'll see you when I return. Please take care of yourself". With that he vanished.
Olive was in shock from all the things she had heard and seen in the past ten minutes. It was like she was in one of the fairytale books she loved reading as a child. .
"Are you alright?" Afara asked and Olive shook her head.
I just found out that my boyfriend is an angel and our love is forbidden. Had you been me, would you be alright?" Olive asked, her voice soft and almost in a whisper.
"You're right. I would have probably freaked out. I'll advice you on one thing though. Stay away from Emerald if you value your safety ". Afara said.
"You are his friend. You should be telling me to stand by him and all that ". Olive pointed out and Afara nodded.
"I'm a guardian angel and I don't lie". Afara sat closer and placed her hand on Olive's. "Look I won't lie to you by saying Emerald won't fight for your love. He's always been stubborn and he is going to fight tooth and nail to keep you ".
"And that's not a good thing?" Olive asked even though she already knew the answer.
"No it isn't. You'll just end up like Luciana. You have more to loose here than he does. I'll advise you keep your distance ".
Olive let out an exasperated sigh. Her head was already pounding. She felt like she would go crazy any moment. How did her life just change all of a sudden? Why can't she ever have a moment of peace in her life?

Olive sat in the living room busy with her books. Elie and Nico were playing at a far end. Olive still had on the nasal cannula and the small portable oxygen tank could be seen peeking out of the pocket of her jeans.
Afara was also present but busy discussing with Celia.
The door opened and Emerald came in. On seeing him Olive stood up and turned towards the stairs.
"Princess hold on*. Emerald said moving after her. He kept calling her as he followed her upstairs. She moved into their room and made to shut the door but he was faster than her.
"Princess listen to me ".
"I don't want to listen to anything. What I want right now is for you to leave me the hell alone ". She snapped and he sighed. He knew she would be mad but she was really mad.
"Princess I.."
"Shut up. Just shut up Emerald. Do you think this is a fairytale were we get our happy ever after?"
"Just listen to me princess. We can make it work". Emerald begged but Olive shook her head, unable to hold back the tears that flow.
"We can't Emerald. We'll end up the same way Serion and Luciana did". She said sobbing.
Emerald moved to her and held her close to him. She tried fighting but he was stronger and kept her in his arms.
"I love you princess and I'm willing to fight for that love". He told her starring deep into her soul
"You'll get in trouble. You know what happened to Serion and Luciana If the heavenly host knows this then..."
He cut her off with a drugging kiss. He took his time to kiss her. A kiss which carried all the emotions he felt for her. He held her close like she'd disappear from him.
"I'm ready to fight every fu***ng one of the heavenly host to be with you. I'll give up everything just to have you by my side. You are mine princess and not even the Almighty can change it".
With that he kissed her again but this time fierce and demanding. Olive shut her eyes as her tears fall freely. She couldn't hold it any longer.
"Please don't leave me Princess. I love you so much it hurts". Emerald begged against her lips. His voice was earnest and Olive couldn't help but wrap her arms around his neck.
"I love you too Emerald".
