PPRD Concludes International Women’s Day 2026 Celebration with Dialogue on Workplace Well-Being

The Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North-West and South-West Regions concluded its two-day celebration of International Women’s Day 2026 featuring a discussion session and dinner buffet at its Head Office in Bastos, Yaoundé.

Following the Fitness and Wellness Walk held on the first day, the second day focused on dialogue and reflection around workplace harmony and staff well-being.

A key highlight of the day was a talk on “Stress Management and Mutual Respect among Personnel.” The session emphasized the importance of maintaining healthy professional relationships, managing workplace pressure, and promoting a culture of respect and collaboration within institutions.

The discussion also reflected the broader spirit of the global theme “Right. Justice. Action for All Women and Girls,” highlighting the need for inclusive workplaces where women feel valued, supported, and empowered.

Participants exchanged ideas on practical ways to strengthen teamwork and improve staff welfare, recognizing that respect, dialogue, and understanding are essential for building a productive work environment.

The event concluded with a dinner buffet, providing an opportunity for staff and guests to interact in a relaxed atmosphere and further strengthen professional bonds.

Through these activities, the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North-West and South-West Regions reaffirmed its commitment to promoting gender equality, staff well-being, and inclusive institutional culture.

PPRD Marks Day 1 of International Women’s Day 2026 with Fitness & Wellness Walk

The Coordination Unit of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North‑West and South‑West Regions (PPRD) launched its two-day celebration of International Women’s Day 2026 with a Fitness and Wellness Walk at the PPRD Head Office in Bastos, Yaoundé.

Held under the global theme “Right. Justice. Action for All Women and Girls,” the activity brought together staff members in a spirit of unity, health, and solidarity. The initiative emphasized the importance of well-being, equality, and collective responsibility in building inclusive institutions.

The event began early in the morning as staff assembled at the PPRD Head Office before setting off on a guided walk led by a professional fitness trainer. The route took participants from PPRD Bastos to Halfway Mont Fébé and through Parcours Vita, before returning to the Head Office.

Beyond promoting physical fitness, the walk served as a moment of reflection on the role of women in peacebuilding, reconstruction, and development in the North-West and South-West regions where PPRD operates.

The activity also reinforced the organization’s commitment to creating a supportive and healthy work environment, where the rights, dignity, and contributions of women are recognized and strengthened.

Through initiatives like these, PPRD continues to promote inclusive participation, gender equality, and workplace well-being in line with the spirit of International Women’s Day.

At 6th PPRD Steering Committee Confab: PM Re-echoes Biya's Zeal in Rebuilding NW, SW

The zeal of the Head of State, President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, to foster the reconstruction of the Northwest and Southwest regions has been reechoed.

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, reechoed the commitment Friday, May 30, 2025, in Buea, Fako Division of the Southwest Region. This was during the 6th session of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the Northwest and Southwest regions, PPRD-NW/SW.
Chairing the session, on behalf of President Paul Biya, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute reiterated that the PPRD-NW/SW is designed to achieve recovery, reconstruction, and development.

Addressing the 6th session of PPRD-NW/SW, Prime Minister Ngute stated that it was based on the goodwill expressed by the entire national community, the government developed a Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West regions.

"As approved by the Head of State, the plan is to restore and improve the living conditions of the populations impacted by the crisis," Ngute stated. He noted the plan also aims to make up for the delay, growth, and development of the two regions by putting them back on track.

According to Prime Minister Ngute, the plan is an instrument at the service of peace, similar to all government initiatives undertaken since the outbreak of the crisis.

PM VISITS PROJECTS

A visit to two of the realized projects in Fako division by Prime Minister Ngute, concluded the evaluation session.
These included the rehabilitation of Government Technical High School, GTHS, Ombe, and the Islamic School in Buea.
To recall that the PRRD kicked off on April 3, 2020, after the Major National Dialogue of 2019, is divided into three phases,
The recovery and reconstruction phases, as of December 2024, went on simultaneously.

According to statistics, the entire reconstruction of the two affected regions was estimated at the sum of Two billion, five hundred million ( 2,500,000,000) FCFA.

By the end of last year, 30,256 billion FCFA, had been received as funds from various donors for the project since it went operational. During the session in Buea, the Prime Minister extended the heartfelt gratitude of the government of Cameroon to the contributors.

So far, the recovery phase of the project in both affected regions have carried out the support for the issuance of 800 lost documents. Eleven women's centers, 99 schools, 39 health facilities, and 39 water points, have been rehabilitated.

In terms of economic empowerment, 1,725 hectares of land was reported to have been rehabilitated, 2,641 farmers supported with farm inputs, and 104 agro-pastoral groups assisted.

The hallmark of the reconstruction phase was the salary payment to workers of the Cameroon Development Corporation, CDC, amounting to 20 billion FCFA.

As concerns the development phase, more than 80 billion FCFA, officials said, used for the reconstruction of the Bamenda-Babadjou ring road.

The construction of the Kumba-Ekondo T**i road and the Bangem-Nguti road have begun to the tune of 40 billion FCFA and 41 billion FCFA respectively.

Spain Reaffirms Support for Cameroon’s Territorial Integrity and Development Efforts.

On February 17th, 2025, in Yaoundé, Mr. Paul Tasong, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon (PPRD-NW/SW) and Minister Delegate in charge of Economic Planning and Development, received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Cameroon, His Excellency Ignacio Rafael García Lumbreras. The ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Jaime Juárez Loaisa, Deputy Head of Mission at the Spanish Embassy in Cameroon, and Mr. Aitor Santiago, Commercial and Economic Attaché at the Spanish Embassy, whose office is based in Douala, Cameroon’s economic capital.

During the meeting, Minister Paul Tasong stated: "We are engaging with all friends of Cameroon regarding the North West and South West Regions and the PPRD. We are also keen to hear your perspectives on what you know or have been informed about these regions. The PPRD is one of the dividends of the Major National Dialogue, created to address the silent suffering of the majority living in both regions. As a government, we can not abandon anyone, especially vulnerable people. Our mission is to ensure that social and economic life continues in both regions."

In response, Ambassador García Lumbreras reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to Cameroon’s sovereignty, stating: "I represent a country that has supported Cameroon from day one. Coincidentally, in October 2017, similar to the situation in the North West and South West Regions, the Catalan region held an illegitimate referendum. We support the territorial integrity of Cameroon and share the same perspective; Cameroon has our total and complete support. While violence isn't over, it is reducing. We also believe that what develops a country is business and trade, not aid, and if there are opportunities, they must be seized." The meeting reinforced Spain’s continued diplomatic and economic engagement with Cameroon, particularly in efforts to restore stability and development in the North West and South West Regions.
