Just a friendly reminder, Winter Fair and Carol Concert will be held at Harrow on 10th December, starting from 15:00.

If you are in Beijing, please come around to Harrow Beijing.

The school would like as much alumni as possible to attend the event, it is a start to re-jump start our alumni association.

You know the drill.

Please spread the word to all your Harrow Beijing friends who have graduated to like and follow us. It really means a lot for me and for the school to get this thing going.

This page is the best tool we have in reaching out to as many people as possible so please do help out. Your effort is greatly appreciated.

Yes yes. I know I know...

Somebody hasn't been doing any work, if at all regarding the alumni thing. And I'm guilty as charged.

We are all civilised human beings and I'm sure you guys can cut me some slack. I have been busy ( I can be more convincing than this but it would take ages ).

I went into Harrow today and had a chat with the new Director for Marketing and Comm., Lucia. She's new to the school and is eager to get the alumni thing up and running. She and I both share the same ideas and belief toward this whole alumni association thing.

And I'll be coming here with regular updates on how everything is going.

We've come to agree that the current database we have for the leavers is not as ideal and some email address left by graduates are no longer valid, which makes sending out emails to everyone difficult.

I'm still going to get the latest version of the database and send out emails, this time I'll see which ones bounces back and I will hunt you down if your email does get bounced. Be prepared if I message you on Facebook some point in the near future.

Lucia is going to talk to IT and see if they could setup a dedicated sub site on our harrowbeijing.cn website specifically for the alumni. Like a portal where all the graduates can login and see the latest news and events and have access to the entire alumni network's contacts.

Also as promised ages ago, regular gatherings should become a reality, but that is something slightly into the future.

What to expect:

- A complete overhaul of the current leavers database, including the basics like name, email address, current university/employer and location
- A alumni portal ( we feel this is a great idea and will definitely push this forward as much as we can, but setting up a website takes time)
- For now regular updates from Facebook.

Also a shout out to all graduates who are currently in Beijing and London, who is interested in helping out with the alumni association, I strongly feel that this time we will make it. Last time was when Mr. Farthing was leaving and there was no school staff that was keen on doing so and this time is different.

Public Service for Mrs. B Justham...

Calling Harrow alumni... I am putting together some information for 6th form students on money in the UK. Please can you send me one thing that surprised you about money? Maybe something that was very expensive and you didn't realise? And I'd love your top tips for saving money in the UK... what's the cheapest way to call home, what are the best places to do your shopping, how do you travel around etc... Thank you!

Lastly, with great sorrow, we say farewell to one Harrovian. Whom I've only learnt today that have passed away. To some of you, you may know him as TH, or Tianhong Tang. I think I can say that I've known TH rather well. To even call a close friend. He was one of most funny, with great knowledge and a unique personality.

This is the second friend that I've known from Harrow who have passed away. Let there be no more of such, wether of my acquaintance or not.

I'm not good with these so I'll finish here. May you rest in peace, and shall god bless you with his blessings. God sees it all, all those wonderful things you've done.

To Mrs. Branka Farthing. Who I've known for just as long as I've known Mr. Farthing.

Thank you for the guidance and help you have provided to all those who are in Harrow and who had been in Harrow. You've set a gold standard for who is worthy of Harrow Beijing and it is this strict standard that ensured Harrow Beijing's excellence.

Wish you too the very best in your future.

Today we say farewell to three very different people.

To Mr. Matthew Farthing, our former Head Master. Who is no stranger to any of us. The inspiration that has driven Harrow Beijing since the school first established in Anzhenxili, Beijing. To us, he is not only our headmaster, but also our mentor, a beacon for all of us.

I'm sure when I say all the very best to you, I say it for all of Harrow. Thank you for all the very best memories and the most enlightened knowledge and wisdom you have passed onto us.
