昭觉寺位于成都市北郊5公里，素有川西“第一丛林”之称，在唐贞观年间（627-649）改为佛刹，名建元寺，宣宗时赐名“昭觉”。宋崇宁年间（1102-1106）佛果克勤（宋高宗赐号圆悟禅师）说法于寺，复名昭觉。南宋绍兴初年，敕改昭觉为禅林。明崇祯十七年（1644年）毁于兵火。清康熙二年（1663年）重修。殿宇规模宏大，林木葱茏，为成都著名古刹之一。
