Guiyang, Guizhou — Philippine Consul General Ivan Frank Olea met with officials of Guizhou Minzu University on 27 August 2026 to explore opportunities to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between Philippine higher education institutions and Guizhou Minzu University, including potential student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, and cultural collaboration.

Guizhou Minzu University expressed interest to expand linkages with Philippine universities and highlighted its existing international partnerships and engagement with ASEAN countries. Possible areas of cooperation identified include technology, history, heritage, and cultural studies.

The Philippine Consulate in Chongqing welcomed the constructive exchange and expressed readiness to facilitate further discussions with relevant Philippine institutions on possible areas of collaboration. END

On 27 August, Consul Juan Paolo Alix joined CITS Global and Xiamen Airlines Chongqing Branch for a Philippines travel session in Chongqing. Partners briefed local agencies on a Manila-centered trip: Intramuros, Binondo, Tagaytay and Taal, plus bay-side leisure - direct from Chongqing.

In an exclusive sit-down interview with The Philippine STAR, Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime FlorCruz stressed how Filipino attitude and upbringing helped Filipinos to be successful in their respective fields in China.

“Not made in China, but made it in China, meaning succeeded in China. And these are 50 Filipinos, ordinary Filipinos, doing extraordinary deeds in their respective jobs and locations, from engineers to teachers, students, musicians,” FlorCruz shared.

Adding,”Filipinos, training or upbringing as responsible, respectful, reliable people, I think that shows in their jobs, and that's why they are so much appreciated by their Chinese hosts here. I think we are very patient and very cheerful, and responsible people. We are loyal to people who treat us well, and I think that is appreciated by their employers that's why we fit in this society quite well, and that's why we succeed here.”
