On 24 August 2026, representating Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Minister Counsellor for Political Affairs attended the official opening of "the 5th Congress of the Red Hispanoamericana de Derechos Humanos Francisco de Vitoria", held at the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (UMNG). The Congress was attended by academics and representatives of academic institutions from Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Chile, as well as Colombian human rights and political studies centres.
The Congress discussed how states can address issues related to security, conflict, vulnerable groups, migration, indigenous peoples, and the environment, while ensuring respect for human rights and international humanitarian law.
The Congress also highlighted the 480-year legacy of Francisco de Vitoria’s thought as one of the foundations of modern international law and human rights.
