Call for Peaceful Engagement and Condemnation of Violence in Eastern Province
The Socialist Party in Eastern Province strongly advises all citizens to refrain from engaging in violent acts, even in times of frustration with government actions. In a democratic nation like Zambia, we have the right to voice our concerns and seek redress through peaceful means.
As the Socialist Party, we urge our members and all Zambians to utilize the appropriate channels to express their grievances when they feel overlooked or mistreated by the government. The recent incidents in Chiwempala, Copperbelt, should not be celebrated or endorsed by any Zambian, regardless of political affiliation.
If citizens believe that the government is not fulfilling its responsibilities, the appropriate response is to exercise their democratic right to vote, rather than resorting to violence that undermines the strong legacy of peace, love, and unity left by our founding fathers.
The events in Chiwempala have the potential to disrupt our hard-won peace, and no one would wish for such turmoil, especially those who aspire to lead our nation. Therefore, we must collectively condemn violence in all its forms.
Let us work together to uphold the values of democracy and peace in Zambia.
