Our Story

FAUNAL, the house of the life, is a small private nature reserve in the foothills of La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. This area is a refuge for different animal and vegetal species, with several trails to walk and watch fauna, feeders to attract birds and the right environment to relax and enjoy nature contact.

Once a coffee plantation, FAUNAL is now surrounded by forest. We have documented the presence of more than 200 bird species inside the reserve including 3 endemics. It’s common the presence of different amazing birds like beautiful toucans, woodpeckers, lots of tanagers, and several mammals, such as Nine-banded armadillos, endemic arboreal porcupines and red howler monkeys.

Visits can be made by your own, our doors are open from 9am to 6pm. The entry has a cost of 5.000 pesos for one month to support the maintenance of the trails and the birdfeeder. We offer coffee, fresh natural juices, local products and souvenirs.

Every weekday we organize a day and a night safari of fauna and flora in the protected forest of the reserve.
