🤩 Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who supported our Feed Rescued Babies & Costa Rica's Only Flamingo campaign, we were able to purchase 60 packs of goat's milk and one large bag of specialized flamingo food.

🐾 Because of your support, the babies in our nursery will receive the proper nutrition they need for the next four months, giving them the best possible start on their journey back to the wild. Our resident flamingo will also enjoy a healthy, balanced diet that helps keep him strong, healthy, and beautifully pink. 🦩

Today, with broken hearts, we say goodbye to the most beloved member of the Jaguar Rescue Center family, Baffi. ❤️

🐾 Baffi wasn't your typical team member. She was rescued more than 12 years ago by our founder, Encar, and never left her side. From running along the beach to greeting everyone with her gentle spirit, Baffi brought joy wherever she went. Anyone who met her knows just how special she was. If you saw Encar, you saw Baffi, and if you saw Baffi, Encar was never far away.

There are no words to express how much you will be missed. Thank you, Baffi, for every wag of your tail, every moment of happiness, and all the unconditional love you gave us.

🤩 204 donors joined the Reconnecting the Canopy campaign for the JRC Shock Free Zone. Together, you helped raise $8,999 in matching funds for wildlife protection in Costa Rica's Caribbean forests.

🚀 Because of your support, we also finished in the Top 10 out of 201 projects worldwide an incredible achievement made possible by every single donor.

Kirara update ✨

🐾 We first introduced you to Kirara, the jaguarundi, in March of this year. He arrived as a very young kitten, feisty, alert, and full of spirit. Since then, he has been under our care, growing stronger every day.

🥹 From the very beginning, Kirara showed us just how wild he was. He spent his first month under the close care of our veterinary team before moving to our rehabilitation area. There, he lived in a large enclosure where he could climb, explore, develop his hunting skills, and become familiar with the sights, smells, and sounds of the forest.

🤩 Today, we have exciting news: this weekend, Kirara was transferred to La Ceiba, marking another important step on his journey back to the wild. At La Ceiba, he will stay in an enclosure deep within the forest, where he can continue adapting to his natural environment and become accustomed to the sounds, scents, and rhythms of the rainforest before his eventual release. 🌳

🥺 Mamma Mia is a great example of why the Shock Free Zone program is important. In 2016, this two-fingered sloth arrived at the JRC after a severe electrocution, deep burns covering her body, and she was still holding her baby daughter tightly to her belly, shielding her.

🌳 To save Mamma Mia's life, our team had to amputate her right arm. Today she's a permanent resident, thriving on three limbs, but she can never be released.

🥺 It’s been a while since we’ve rescued a baby spider monkey. The last one was Kumo in 2024, and now this tiny newcomer has arrived all the way from Limón.
He was found crying alone, with no sign of his mother. By the time he reached us, he was weak, dehydrated, exhausted, and struggling to breathe.

🩺 Our veterinary team immediately examined him, checked for injuries, monitored his breathing, took blood samples, started IV fluids, and placed him in an incubator to help regulate his body temperature.

🤩 The next morning brought a little hope. He was brighter, more alert, and had a huge appetite. After finishing his special milk mix, he curled up for a well-deserved nap.

🌳Like other monkeys in our care, he has a long rehabilitation journey ahead. Every step is focused on one goal: giving him the chance to return to the wild where he belongs.

✨ Now comes the fun part… we can’t call him “Baby Spider Monkey” forever!

THE SHOCK 😮⚡️
Some of you may remember Juma. This tiny howler monkey was rescued as a newborn. She and her mother were severely electrocuted on uninsulated power lines in 2021. Sadly, Juma’s mother did not survive, leaving her orphaned. Juma was rescued alive, but she arrived with severe burns covering much of her body.

THE RECOVERY ❤️🩹
Juma’s recovery was a long and challenging journey. For the first months, she received around-the-clock veterinary care, specialized treatment for her burns, and intensive rehabilitation. In March 2025, she reached an incredible milestone, returning to the wild where she belongs.

The Solution🛠️
We refuse to stand by, our Shock Free Zone program is our initiative to help insulate the jungle canopy so these shocks never happen. Ma Earth is matching our donations to drive this program.

🌳 Estos números son mucho más que estadísticas: representan personas, educación y acciones concretas para proteger la increíble vida silvestre de Costa Rica. Esto es lo que hemos logrado juntos:
