Ambassador Andreas Photiou participated in yesterday's EU Ambassadors meeting in Podgorica with the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić.

The discussion focused on Montenegro's European perspective, reform priorities and regional developments. Cyprus, holding the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026, reiterated its firm and consistent support for Montenegro's EU accession process as well as its commitment to promoting enlargement as a strategic investment in peace, stability and prosperity for the EU.

The Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Belgrade hosted a reception marking Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union as of 1 January 2026. 🇨🇾🇪🇺

The event brought together representatives of the Serbian Government, members of the diplomatic corps, and partners and friends of Cyprus to mark this important milestone and to underline Cyprus’ commitment to advancing the European agenda, strengthening cooperation, and promoting dialogue and solidarity within Europe and with its partners.

The reception was followed by the opening of the festival “Cinematic Horizons – New Cypriot Cinema,” a two-day cultural event presenting contemporary Cypriot filmmaking to audiences in Belgrade.
