We have met the most different children and youth. We find out about them and their lives: we listen to them carefully, follow their growth and what is happening to them. We have also listened to adults talking about children and have seen how they affect them. And then, we realise children and youth have greatly affected us, “Indigo” Group for Children and Youth. Some people claim there are ‘indigo’ children and believe they are compassionate, curious, do not like the rules, can’t easily fit in, but they accept others as they are, contribute to inclusion and connect people. Although we are perfectly aware there is not a single piece of empirical evidence on the existence of ‘indigo’ children, we have been inspired by the idea of generations which strongly feel the need for change in the world and contribute to it. We see the world changes and new children constantly arrive. That is how it will always be. And that is why it is necessary to adapt to the changes all the time. For, if people change, the social systems must do the same. And this is primarily true for education and upbringing, social and health protection, culture and art for children and youth. The fact is that today’s children will lead mankind. Therefore, it is our duty to empower them for the life in the contemporary world, for the roles they will take over from us and – change. Undoubtedly, too, each child is unique. Our task is to use all our knowledge and abilities, in order to help every child, from the earliest age, fully develop all her/his human potentials. We will achieve this if we constantly create the best possible conditions for their uniqueness to become valuable not only to the child, but also to her/his environment.
