General Information
The American Corners (AC) program is a United
States Department of State sponsored initiative
inaugurated worldwide several years ago. There
are over700 Corners in 60 countries all around
the world under the program. The fundamental
function of of American Corners is to make information
about the United States available to foreign public
at large. They provide access to current
and reliable
information about the U.S. via books, video, and
DVD collections, the Internet, and through local
programming to general public. They serve as
regional resource centers for information and
programs highlighting American culture, history,
current events. The American Corner Novi Pazar was opened on March 27,
2009, through joint agreement between the CUltural center of Novi Pazar and the U.S. The American Corner Novi Pazar is the youngest of eight American Corners how many there are in Serbia. Library consists of over 1400 titles in English. The reference books can be used in the Corner:
dictionaries and diverse encyclopedias. Others
can be signed out for two weeks. The covered
areas include: American literature, history and law,
politics, business, journalism, but also music, arts,
movies and many other fields of interest. Resources for practicing the tests such as TOEFL, SAT,
GRE, GMAT await all those who wish to continue
their studies or research in the USA. Magazines are available too. National Geographic,
Smithsonian, Wired, American Cinematographer,
New Yorker, Art in America, to name but a few. Important note: our library is periodically enriched
with new titles, many of which are suggested by our
members. We believe that in this way we are creating
the library that suits the needs of our members the
best and guarantees high level of interest. American Corner Novi Pazar is technically very well equipped. We have an interactive smart board that is used for presentations and lectures, then to work with children, it can be used for showing movies, and it offers many opportunities in the educational process. Users can use computers with internet access. The American Corner Novi Pazar organizes exhibitions of paintings and photographs, and in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy and the Cultural Center of Novi Pazar we organize concerts. This is the place to be during the daytime if you
want to read, study in quiet or browse the Internet. This is the place to be in the evening, for the
diverse programs we offer.

popular culture etc.
- Movie screenings: both features and
documentaries.
- Presentations are held by representatives of the U.S. Embassy and prominent American intellectuals.
