Vlasotince is a small picturesque town on the banks of the river Vlasina, surrounded by green hills and vineyards. At its very heart, it is a beautiful rural town - home of the annual Wine Ball, and hard-working people who would rather be woken by nature than man. Yet, it is a region full of educated people who have interest in learning both in and outside of the classroom. Set on the hill, among

trees and flowers, overlooking the town, is Gymnasium "Stevan Jakovljevic" and its focal point, for many students - the English Club - the place to love and charish words, written or spoken; the place to celebrate the beauty and mystery of life in all its diversity and greatness. This page is one of the jewels in the crown of our adventure called studying English.

💡 Imagine Phase – Social Me-dia Project

After a rich and engaging Feel phase, where students had the opportunity to get to know each other, explore social media, and reflect on the virtual world, they identified a common issue they wanted to address:
👉 Social media often presents only perfect lives and unrealistic body images.
To move forward, we entered the Imagine phase.
During an online meeting, students from Serbia and Germany collaborated and shared their ideas. They decided to work in small international groups, where each group will develop its own creative solution to this problem.
Students discussed different perspectives, exchanged experiences, and began shaping ideas on how to respond to unrealistic standards in the digital world.
✨ This phase allowed them to:
think creatively
collaborate across cultures
take ownership of a real-life issue
Now, we are ready for the next step — the Do phase, where their ideas will come to life!

💡IMAGINE Phase – From Ideas to Solutions

After exploring their media habits and experiences in the Feel phase, students have now moved into the Imagine phase, where they take the first steps towards change.

Through discussion and collaboration, the project participants identified an important issue they want to address: blackmail on social media.

During a live online meeting, students from Serbia and Portugal decided to complete the DO phase working together in small international groups. They exchanged ideas and suggested a wide range of realistic and achievable solutions to this problem — showing creativity, responsibility, and strong teamwork.

The meeting was filled with laughter, positive energy, and open communication, reflecting how well the students had already connected during the previous phase. Thanks to their shared exploration of the digital world, they felt confident to express their opinions and build ideas together.

This phase marks an important step — students are no longer just observers, but active thinkers and problem-solvers, ready to turn their ideas into meaningful action.

They say you shouldn’t create a Hall of Fame of your own achievements…
But when three awards take you to London, Tokyo, and Atlanta—and completely change the way you work, think, and breathe—maybe you can 😄
Not all the awards are on this wall.
Some took me to Hamburg, Graz, Sarajevo, Pignola… then Gozo and Valletta…
And Erasmus+ to a dozen more countries 😍
More places are waiting 🤩
From one opportunity…
to a life that travels.

Some places change the way you see history forever
The "singing lady" in the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama, is part of a powerful, immersive exhibit featuring life-size holographic projections.
Located within a section designed to look like slave holding pens, these digital, black-and-white apparitions sing, talk, and share first-person narratives of their experiences, activated by sensors.
The holograms are designed to evoke the voices and humanity of enslaved individuals who were trafficked through or held in jails similar to the one depicted in the museum's space.
These figures represent a "first-person narrative" approach to history, aiming to educate visitors on the emotional and human cost of slavery.

True teachers are never hypocrites. They act in the best interest of their students, even when it means making difficult or unpopular decisions. What may feel harsh at the time is often rooted in care and long-term growth. In the end, many students come to appreciate this as they mature.
