U školi postoje dva smera: društveno-jezički i prirodno-matematički. Vlasotince is a small picturesque town on the banks of the river Vlasina, surrounded by green hills and vineyards. At its very heart, it is a beautiful rural town - home of the annual Vine Ball, and hard-working people who would rather be woken by nature than man. Yet, it is a region full of educated people who have interest in learning both in and outside of the classroom. Set on the hill, among trees and flowers, overlooking the town, is Gymnasium ‘Stevan Jakovljevic’, a public school of general education. Gymnasium named Stevan Jakovljevic is situated in Vlasotince, Serbia. It is a secondary school and it takes four years to complete it which offers general and broad education, awarding students a High school diploma. Students are advised to continue their education after graduation as it is very hard to find a job with a gymnasium diploma. Gymnasiums in Serbia offer different courses and in our school students can choose between the Socio-Linguistics Course and Science-Mathematics Course. Students can only choose one course (they do it when they write their wish list for preferred schools and courses) and they usually do not change it until they graduate. Every course has the same number and list of classes, but the difference is in their schedules (for example, the Socio-Linguistic Course might have English classes five times a week, while the Science-Mathematics Course offers two English classes a week). At the moment, 334 students attend our gymnasium and 38 teachers teach them. There are 12 classes all together. If you expect to find a big , impersonal school where nobody will notice you, then this is not the right place for you. Our school might be a small one, but it has high educational standards. The teachers believe that real efficiency in learning comes through enjoying your work in a relaxed, friendly and professional environment. At this school the teachers admit that the students are different. They are individuals with individual needs and interests. If the students are happy, they learn - it is as simply as that. The teachers who work here have a real interest in their students and their progress. And progress they do! For the international eTwinning projects, the students have been awarded with 19 National and 13 European Quality Labels. One of the projects was announced the best international project in Serbia for the academic 2019/20 school year! Many students have won awards at the state competitions in English, Serbian and chemistry thus qualified for enrolling the faculty of their choice without sitting the entrance exam of which we are really proud. The achievements of our students in their professional life is our greatest success.
