Today, the Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Havana was proud to host His Excellency Lieutenant General Mathew Edward Mkingule of the United Republic of Tanzania, for an official courtesy visit.

Her Excellency Verna Mills warmly received Ambassador Mkingule, and the two held productive discussions on key matters of mutual interest, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new partnerships.

Ambassador Mkingule was joined by the Head of Chancery, Mr. Wilbroad Kayombo.

In a prestigious graduation ceremony held today at the Karl Marx Theatre in Havana, two nationals of Saint Kitts and Nevis were among hundreds of international and Cuban students who proudly received their medical degrees after seven years of rigorous training.

Dr. Yaruska Irish and Dr. Rashumba Gilbert successfully completed their medical studies, marking a monumental milestone in their professional journeys.

On behalf of the newly minted physicians, the Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Havana extends its profound appreciation to the Government and people of the Republic of Cuba.

This milestone reflects Cuba's enduring investment in our people and its steadfast commitment to helping build vital professional capacity within our twin-island Federation.The Embassy also notes with praise the invaluable support the graduates received from their parents, loved ones, and the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis throughout their academic tenure.

Today, the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences in Havana celebrated its 50th graduation ceremony, sending 412 newly minted sports and physical education professionals out into the world.

​Among the sea of graduates was Alexandra Richards, hailing all the way from Saint Kitts and Nevis, who officially graduated with her degree in Physical Culture.

Alexandra delivered remarks as the only international student to walk across the stage today. She thanked God for his grace, strength and guidance during every step of her journey. She also stated: "Today we celebrate not only the culmination of a university career, but also the overcoming of countless obstacles. Studying in Cuba has been one of the biggest opportunities of my life, but also one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced."

In a heartfelt expression of gratitude, Alexandra extended her profound thanks to the people of Cuba and Saint Kitts and Nevis for granting her the invaluable opportunity to study abroad. She also expressed her deepest appreciation to her family, friends, professors, and classmates, acknowledging that this milestone was made possible by the unwavering support of everyone who stood by her throughout her academic journey.

"As I close this chapter and begin the next, I do so with a grateful heart, knowing that each trial prepared me for this moment. This title is not just a symbol of academic success; it is proof that, with God, anything is possible."

Studying abroad is an immense challenge—it demands cultural adaptation, language mastery, and enduring the weight of being far from home. In honour of CARICOM Day and in celebration of ​our shared Caribbean heritage, the CARICOM Caucus of Ambassadors in Cuba hosted the second edition of the CARICOM Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 12th, at the beautiful Official Residence of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

It was a day dedicated to joy, community, and gratitude, bringing together our diplomats, our wonderful Cuban staff, and all of our families.

The residence was alive with high energy and non-stop entertainment for all ages. Thrilling football matches on the lawn and cool splashes in the pool kept everyone active all afternoon, while a delicious spread of food celebrating our diverse flavors kept everyone energized.

​The day held extra special moments for the children, who were treated to a mesmerizing magic show filled with laughter and cheers.

The adults and youth also put their knowledge to the test during a lively CARICOM history and Q&A trivia segment, which sparked some friendly competition and winners walked away with plenty of exciting prizes.

​This celebration was a beautiful reminder of the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation between CARICOM and Cuba. Thank you to everyone who joined hands to make this day of unity so memorable! 🤝❤️

In commemoration of the 53rd Anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the CARICOM Caucus of Ambassadors in Havana on Monday, 6th July 2026 held a wreath laying ceremony at the Caribbean Heroes Park.

The wreath-laying ceremony was headed by the Ambassador of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and Dean of the CARICOM Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Abdool Halim Majeed and the Director General of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Rafael Dausá Céspedes.

H.E. Verna Mills, Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to Cuba delivered remarks on behalf of the Caucus. In the presence of colleague Ambassadors from across Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe, Ambassador Mills expressed "we come together to honour not only the achievements of our Caribbean Community but also the enduring spirit that unites our people."

She further stressed that "the strength of CARICOM is measured not only by our economic progress but by our willingness to stand together in times of adversity. When one member faces hardship, we all share a responsibility to offer hope, partnership, and practical support."

The Mexican Ambassador to Cuba, H.E. Miguel Díaz Reynoso also had the opportunity to share a message of hope and solidarity with the group.

Following his statement, H.E. Rafael Dausá Céspedes thanked CARICOM for its continued support of Cuba. He referenced the humanitarian aid that was donated by CARICOM in the midst of the ongoing humanitarian and energy crises facing the Cuban people.

The ceremony was chaired by H.E. Perlita Aldana, Ambassador of Belize.

Joining High Commissioner Mills to honor their esteemed colleague were the Ambassadors of Niger, The Gambia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Tanzania.

Celebrating leadership, heritage, and the power of motherhood!

In commemoration of Nicaraguan Mother's Day and Africa Day, the Embassy of Nicaragua in Cuba and the House of Africa Museum on Friday, 29th May 2026 hosted a powerful panel discussion in Havana titled: “Women and Mothers in Diplomacy and Decision-Making: Afro-descendant and Indigenous Women in Government.”

The forum brought together a powerful collective of voices to shine a light on representation, resilience, and leadership.

H.E. Verna Mills, Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the Republic of Cuba joined other distinguished diplomats from the Republic of the Congo, Cabo Verde, Venezuela and Nicaragua in sharing their experiences, discussing the progress and challenges for Afro-descendant and indigenous women in governance.

These trailblazing leaders pulled back the curtain on their own journeys, sparking an honest conversation about the massive strides achieved—and the real barriers that still exist—for Afro-descendant and Indigenous women in global leadership.

The Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Havana today successfully concluded its Fourth Biennial Patriotic Fair, marking two days of exceptional cultural and commercial exchange on the Embassy grounds in Miramar. The event, which opened yesterday, drew a distinguished audience of diplomats from across the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, Europe, and Asia, alongside leaders from the medical, religious, and business sectors.

The final day continued to highlight the Federation’s craftsmanship and heritage, featuring curated exhibitions of Caribelle Batik apparel, jewelry from the St. Kitts Nevis Association of Persons with Disabilities (SKNAPD), drinks from Mother Becky and premium local wellness brands like Sweet Organics, Nature’s Best and The Emerald.

The fair reached its crescendo this afternoon with a highly anticipated grand raffle. One lucky attendee walked away with a premier gift basket featuring a world-class selection of brewed beverages from Saint Kitts and Nevis, including Captain Nils Viking rum and products from Carib Brewery (St. Kitts & Nevis Limited).
