Ten unarmed humanitarians from the Global Sumud Land Convoy have been arbitrarily detained in Libya for ten days. Yesterday, their detention was extended by ten more.

They were negotiating safe passage for life-saving aid to Gaza. They are doctors, a journalist, human rights defenders. They have been on hunger strike for four days.

The governments of Spain, Poland, the United States, Argentina, Uruguay, Portugal, Tunisia, and Italy must act to bring them home.
Free them. Now.

Javier Zendrera Zariquiey describes being forced to kneel for hours under the sun after the flotilla was illegally and violently intercepted in international waters while en route to Gaza.

During the ordeal, he said the violence was relentless: “They didn’t stop beating people in the head, in the kidneys… an incredible brutality.” He also recounted what he described as psychological torture, including intimidating shouting, mocking laughter, threats involving attack dogs, and constant physical abuse.
He witnessed numerous serious injuries among those onboard, including broken ribs, broken noses, broken arms, and many other forms of trauma.

Salwa, a 73-year-old woman, recounts the abuse she says she suffered at the hands of the israeli naval forces after they violently intercepted her boat in international waters as it attempted to reach Gaza.

She says that during the operation, her cane, which she relies on for mobility, was immediately taken from her and she was strip-searched. She was then forced to remain in a distress position aboard the prison vessel under the burning sun for hours.

In the first part of her testimony, she describes the harrowing experience in detail, including witnessing the abuse and injuries suffered by many others around her.

Our brutalized Flotilla participants will not let governments look away. They continue to raise their voices in testimony against the occupation’s violence—for justice, and for the thousands of Palestinian hostages still suffering unbearable horrors in Israeli dungeons.

Notorious security minister, Ben Gvir has already indicated that the retrospective death penalty law will apply to 80% of Palestinians in israeli prisons. This is an apartheid law, aimed directly at one population, and meant to court-sanction the extermination of a people.

The unleashed brutality of the israeli regime continues to expand its genocidal methods as it murders more people and steals more territory.

In a sick twist of israeli cruelty, when the legislation passed in the israeli knesset, parliamentarians wearing noose-shaped pins celebrated with champagne. We can expect that in the coming months israel will rush to execute as many Palestinians as it can with the full knowledge that the legislation is illegal under international law.

The only solution is to come together in collective struggle in our fight to isolate israel.

israel’s militarization is so deep-rooted that every individual IOF fighter embodies the pathological characteristics exhibited by the Zionist state and its leadership.

Ariadne describes how one IOF soldier circled her for hours beating and tormenting her. At one point she thought she would be suffocated when a plastic bag was held firmly over her head. There is a repeated theme in all the testimonies about how one IOF torturer attached themselves to one captive and repeatedly threatened them for hours with weapons including tasers and rubber bullets for inflicting pain and guns for inflicting fear.

Humiliation was also used as a weapon. We saw this in the Gvir video with everyone being forced to kneel for extended periods with their hands tied tightly behind their backs. Sleep deprivation and accounts of sexual assault were also numerous.

It should be clear to any clear thinking person in the world that nothing Israel says can be believed. Israel enters ‘negotiations’ to buy more time to continue its destruction of Gaza and now Lebanon.

Every ceasefire has been broken, every agreement to withdraw has been met with further encroachments into land beyond Israel’s borders. All the while, their brutality is thinly veiled by claims of self-defense.

While Palestinians have known this for decades, Israel has dropped its ‘civilised’ mask in the rush to inflict brutal force as politicians across all parties scramble to score points before the elections that must be held before the end of October.

How much more pain can be inflicted on the people of Gaza? We have sailed, we have marched, we have sent money to help families, we have written to governments, and still the bombings continue.

Israel must be isolated and punished, land must be returned to its rightful owners, people freed from prison, and we must demand with no exceptions: NEVER AGAIN.

During the second intifada, IOF soldiers guarding posts in low visibility were encouraged to shoot bursts of gunfire into the darkness on the mere theory that a threat might be lurking. Today, that same genocidal logic has been refined, systematized and handed off to a machine.

AI systems using algorithmic targeting to generate “kill lists,” where human oversight is a myth and accountability is deflected onto a machine, has enabled israel to accelerate its destruction at unprecedented scale, pace, and cruelty, with an unimaginable civilian toll.

These highly lucrative technologies, tested in Gaza and exported abroad, are changing the way war is waged in horrifying ways. We must name those profiting from them and hold them accountable for their complicity in war crimes.

We all know that the U.S. is in bed with israel but what they are doing between the sheets may not be so obvious. The U.S. has provided over $300 billion to israel since 1948. Annually it commits $3.8 billion to israel’s weapons cache. Although this figure has increased substantially during the current conflict. 90% of these funds goes straight back to U.S. to buy weapons from large corporations through a system known as Foreign Military Financing (FMF). Think of it like the U.S. giving israel vouchers that can only be spent in U.S. stores. Take the weapons used against the flotilla activists including stun grenades and projectile rounds manufactured by Combined Tactical Systems (CTS) better known by the brand name Combined Systems Inc (CSI). The company, based in Pennsylvania has supplied tear gas cannisters and other crowd control weapons to israel. The same weapons have also turned up in Bahrain and Egypt during the Arab Spring and in Ferguson during the protests over the death of George Floyd (may he rest in peace and power). CSI isn’t the only contributor to the current torture witnessed by the world. The prison ship used by israel as a torture chamber was build by Bolinger Mississippi Shipyards. Meanwhile, the U.S. government has done nothing to assist its citizens being beaten by the weapons on ships that their taxes bought.
