CHRISTMAS SELECTION This years Christmas selection of unique and very original festive chocolates. Seven mouth watering - and exclusive to the Platres Chocolate Workshop - creations, ranging from the worlds most expensive chocolates (Italian Black Truffle and Honey creams or the gold embossed Piura Porcellana chocolate bars), through a variety of festive alcohol based chocolates - cherry flavoured vodka liqueur, brandy beans and spiced rum globes and French Champagne creams, through to typical Christmas table flavoured chocolates (Christmas pudding, mince pie & custard, etc etc) and the very special Frankincense, gold and Myrhh nativity themed chocolates, plus many others. Every day of the year we have groups like this from Russia who come to our shop for a chocolate making demonstration. The group sizes vary from 20 to 120 each and every day. A lot of Russians and a lot of work but we all enjoy it

As with everything we do, sometimes luck plays a big part. I sample chocolate from all around the world just so I can keep up with current trends. About a year ago I tried chocolate from Vietnam. It was good, not exceptional but certainly on a par with most South American chocolate.
I happened to mention that I had tasted this chocolate to a friend who had recently visited Vietnam. He gave me some chocolate that he had acquired from a small Plantation in an area named Dak Lak. Apparently the cacao trees were grown in the jungle - not in a large cacao tree plantation, but amongst the jungle trees. The chocolate tasted of the jungle. I liked it. Lots of aromatic jungle flavours. It made the chocolate totally unique, I made enquiries in Vietnam and was able to buy the entire production from that small plantation in Dak Lak.
This is the chocolate we make from those totally aromatic cacao beans from the Vietnamese Jungle.

We make chocolates of all kinds but - just because we can - we make THE WORLDS MOST EXPENSIVE CHOCOLATE BAR. It is created from a very rare and exclusive chocolate known as Porcelana Piura. In our workshop we process this chocolate in a way that makes it smoother and silkier in taste and healthier than most other chocolate bars as we add Royal Jelly to the mix. Finally to provide the final touches of absolute decadent luxury we apply 24 caret gold leaf decoration to the chocolate bar.
It sells at just 1 euro !!! - 1 EURO PER GRAM AND EACH BAR WEIGHS 100 GRAMS - 100 EUROS PER BAR - THE WORLDS MOST EXPENSIVE CHOCOLATE BAR

You know, it was not easy to write to you this letter because i feel something and it's hard to explain. The feeling is like I met the good magician and it was you.
Thank you for that conversation, it helped to understand a lot of things and the most important one is - in this world still there are people like the sun.You warm up by your rays, such a lovely and funny man. And it is always big pleasure to look in your eyes and it seems like there is a bright rainbow inside - you are gorgeous.
Can I ask you? Have you ever heard the music inside you and your wife? I think it's just wonderful.
Please, send greetings to your wife. And thanks for her story about chocolate. It was amazing. And she was magnificent!

My name is John Adams and I own the Platres Chocolate Workshop. Well over a year ago a lovely lady by the name of Zuzana Jandova advised me that I should have a page and she offered to create it for me. She did, and for this I am very grateful. The problem is that she has been using my page as an advertising medium for her own business - Cyprus Excursions - I have not been a big Facebook user so this has not worried me too much. However, I now have new staff who work for me and they, quite rightly, advise me that I should use my page to let people know what is happening in our chocolate world - and so much is! So in future this page will entertain you (or bore you) with all sorts of chocolate trivia and news (do you know what a chocolate sneeze is? An American University calls it 'an or**sm of the face'. In a later post I will tell you what it really is). In the meantime I will tell you that Praxi and myself still own and oversee the Chocolate Workshop and we are lucky enough to have a new manager by the name of Tony Harvey, a fully qualified Master Chef, who has taken over the day to day management. He is aided by Pandelipsa who rules the kitchen (and we are all scared of!) plus the lovely Eva who is 'front of house and deals with most customers', then there is Anna who helps both of them. They all make a great team - so different from the two who let me down in the past! This is the last time I will write at such length on this subject. In future you will be entertained with news of the amazing projects we become involved in, plus some lovely photos and entertaining letters from our world wide army of chocolate lovers. John

This coming Sunday our village are holding what is termed a 'Lavender Festival'. We have not been invited to attend the festival but as it is being held in our village we are putting on a special display of LAVENDER CHOCOLATE 5 totally different types of Lavender Chocolate - all created with a taste of Lavender. White chocolate bars - dark chocolate bars - Lavender cream filled bars, our very special Healthy (no sugar & only 2 calories) Flava chocolate mini bars in boxes of 20 mini bars and finally our luxurious lavender cream filled chocolate cups. THESE CHOCOLATES WILL BE ON DISPLAY (AND FOR SALE) IN A PROMINENT POSITION IN FRONT OF OUR SHOP FROM 10.00am SUNDAY MORNING. Our chocolates are original and unique and legally protected as such. Others will try to copy us but none will succeed
