Many people check /KONTROLOVAT/ how many steps /KROKY/ they walk every day. Research /VĚDCI/ says 10,000 is enough /STAČIT/ for us to live longer. However /NICMÉNĚ/, a new study says 4,000 steps could /MOHLO BY/ be enough. Researchers looked at 17 studies about how far people walked. They concluded /DOJÍT K ZÁVĚRU/ that 4,000 steps per day lowered /SNÍŽILO/ the risk of getting heart disease and other life-threatening /ŽIVOT OHROŽUJÍCÍ/ conditions. Taking 4,000 steps is the same as a 30-minute walk, or about three to four kilometres.
Researchers looked at exercise /CVIČENÍ/ data from 225,000 adults worldwide /CELOSVĚTOVĚ/ over seven years. The adults had an average /PRŮMĚRNÝ/ age of 64. The lead /VEDOUCÍ/ researcher said 4,000 was not a "magic number". He added /DODAL/ that the more steps you take /UDĚLÁTE/, the better. The researcher said people should /MĚLI BY/ add /PŘIDAT/ at least one walk to their daily routine /DENNÍ PROGRAM/.
