Román zavádí čtenáře do Paříže osmdesátých let i současnosti, na šalebnou cestu hledání vlastní identity, pátrání po podstatě přátelství a řešení otázek viny i možného odpuštění. Jednadvacetiletá Marie prchá v roce 1989 z Nizozemska. V Paříži začíná pracovat jako au pair. Cizí město, cizí jazyk, noví lidé, nová práce – v každém ohledu začíná úplně od píky, provádí důkladný restart svého života. Co dělá člověk, který se musí znovu postavit na nohy? Píše. Teprve o půl života později se Mariin příběh dostane k Flo, kvůli níž musela kdysi Marie utíkat. Ta si jej však již přečíst nemůže. Nezbývá jí než poslouchat…

Sacha Bronwasser (*1968) je nizozemská spisovatelka, historička umění a kurátorka. Vystudovala Akademii výtvarných umění v Bredě a následně strávila rok 1989 na pařížské Sorbonně. Literárně debutovala v roce 2019 oceňovaným románem Niets is gelogen (Nic není lež). Také druhý román Poslouchej (2023) sklidil kladné recenze a přes rok byl na předních místech žebříčků nejprodávanějších beletristických knih v Nizozemsku. V roce 2024 vyšla její sbírka povídek De lotgevallen (Osudy).

🔔 At St. Salvator Church in Prague, the Freedom Bell that was donated by 🇳🇱 companies Huisman and NN in cooperation with our Embassy, and inaugurated by H.E. Queen Máxima and President Pavel, served as a powerful symbol of this day.

🤝 The bell was rung hand in hand by the Dutch Ambassador Mina Noor and Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Zvarych, followed by speeches celebrating solidarity, freedom and our shared European values 🇳🇱🇺🇦🇨🇿.

🔔 The sound of the Freedom Bell is a reminder that solidarity matters, that freedom must be defended, and that Europe stands together in the face of aggression.

💙💛 Until Ukraine can celebrate its independence in freedom, the Netherlands will stand with Ukraine. 🇳🇱🇺🇦

❤️‍🩹 August 21, 1968. We remember.

The Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia changed countless lives. Faced with an impossible choice, many people eventually left their homes and fled abroad — including to the Netherlands 🇳🇱.

Their stories of courage, exile and new beginnings are preserved by Memory of Nations in the "Memory of the CZ-NL Connections" project, supported by our Embassy. 🇨🇿🤝🇳🇱

Standing for equal rights: A message of unity from Prague to Amsterdam

On Saturday, August 8th, the Dutch Embassy marched with the Diplomats for Equality at the Prague Pride parade. Our local participation coincided with WorldPride Amsterdam 2026, marking a historic year for the Netherlands as we celebrate 25 years of marriage for same-sex couples and 30 years of Pride Amsterdam.

Pride is more than a celebration. It is a global declaration that inclusion, equality, and justice are universal. From the streets of Prague to the canals of Amsterdam, our message is one of UNITY. Solidarity must transcend borders, cultures, and communities because human rights cannot be selective. Unity is our defense against discrimination, oppression, and the erosion of our rights and freedoms. A society that protects its most vulnerable is a society that thrives; for its people, its democracy, and its economy.

Together, whether at home or abroad, we stand UNITED for human rights, equality, and dignity worldwide.

The Embassy invites you to visit Relational Fields – Vztahová pole, the 2026 contemporary art exhibition at Bechyně featuring the work of Dutch artist Roland E. Kuit.

Kuit’s site-specific sound installation is presented in dialogue with the unique atmosphere of the castle grounds and the surrounding landscape. The exhibition explores the relationships between art and space, past and present, different generations of artists, and the visitors themselves.

Set within the historic architecture, sculpture park and landscape of Bechyně, Relational Fields brings together international and Czech contemporary art in a compelling dialogue across generations and artistic approaches.
