There are so many nice places to climb that sometimes I don't return to an area for a while. This was my first time back in Žihle in about a year. It is a great spot for cold weather bouldering. I was happy to see that I could finish a few of my old projects that felt pretty desperate last year. Good climbing day with good company!

Tuesday was a national holiday so we took to the rocks. We climbed on the granite along the Vltava near the town Jickovice. This area has both trad routes and sport routes. I hadn't used my old hexes since I started climbing and thought it could be fun to take them along. My partner ended up dropping one 15 meters and nearly in the water. They were better off in the closet. Honestly, I think it is easier to place a knot than a hex. Hexes are heavy and cumbersome to place in cracks. Knots are malleable and squeeze into restrictions nicely. Sandbagged ratings here but really nice climbing. We finished the day climbing a cool off width boulder in the dark by headlamp. Fun times on the rocks!

Due to weather, work and Covid I had to spend the previous week hangboarding and staying indoors. It felt great to finally get out climbing. We went to Kozelka to climb on the old volcanic rock. Beautiful views and routes made for a beautiful day.

I was happy to catch a window of nice weather to climb over the weekend. We went to the left bank of Labak and tried some hard routes. I did more following than leading after being sick for two weeks. I left two beautiful routes unsent, a thin hands crack and an arete. I love being out in the Autumn weather with crisp mornings and nights. My partner gave me some hot hot peppers from his garden. They made a tasty hot sauce but super spicy🔥

My friend Pavel and I climbed Dachstein Hoher this past week. It was my longest climb to date at 1070 meters or about 3000 feet. It was a pretty wild route which had glaciers, rock fall and a night on the wall.
