At the meeting, we will practice prepared speeches as well as unprepared speeches in a friendly environment. Von Stegreif-Reden über Socken, die Liebesbriefe schreiben, bis hin zu Investment-Pitches für eine Sockenlinie, bei der kein einziges Paar farblich zusammenpasst — und das als Design Vision verkauft werden muss: Unser letztes Meeting hatte alles.

Den Abschluss machte eine vorbereitete Rede mit einer klaren Botschaft: Leidenschaften entdecken. Eigene Wege gehen. Auch wenn andere es für uns anders geplant haben.

At our latest meeting, one prepared speech sparked a fire:
Human Intelligence vs. Artificial Intelligence — who runs the show?
The speech set the stage. Then came Table Topics — and suddenly everyone had a very strong, very impromptu opinion.

Spoiler:
The humans brought passion, wit, and the occasional “uh…”
The AI brought data, speed, and absolutely zero stage fright.
We’re calling it a draw. For now.

At one of our club meetings we travelled through the world of Scheherazade and One Thousand and One Nights. That most brilliant of heroines didn’t survive by sword or sorcery. She survived by speaking well. Night after night, one perfectly crafted story at a time.

Strip away the flying carpets and the lesson is timeless:
know your audience, build suspense, and have a point.
The art of storytelling has simply migrated — from royal courts to boardrooms, from candlelit palaces to offices and screens.

That is precisely what we practice, twice a month.

Rhetorik trifft Theater - reagieren, reden, glänzen

Bei unserem letzten Treffen haben wir wieder eine bunte Mischung aus Reden, Bewegen, Zuhören – und viel Lachen erlebt. Die fröhliche Moderation, inspiriert von der Theaterproduktion “Something Rotten” im English Theatre Frankfurt, brachte echtes Bühnenflair ins Meeting. 🎭

Dazwischen eine inspirierende Rede über Techniken für spontane Antworten, die begeistern – und anschließend Stegreifreden mit überraschenden Fragen rund um die Bühne, die Kreativität und Schlagfertigkeit herausforderten.

In zwei Wochen hebt sich der Vorhang bei uns wieder. Gleiche Bühne, neue Ideen - und die perfekte Gelegenheit, eure Redekunst weiter zu verfeinern. Seid dabei!

This week’s English meeting with the theme „Reading for Pleasure“ moved online as the clubhouse was otherwise engaged—an opportunity to refine our eloquence through the camera. For many of us, speaking with clarity online is no longer optional, but a professional imperative.

Our theme reminded us that books are far more than decoration for intelligent-looking shelves. Reading refines expression, deepens emotional insight, strengthens sustained focus—and offers a quiet sanctuary in a world full of distractions.

We enjoyed two prepared speeches: one illuminated the fascinating world of basic electronic components. The other tackled the art of attracting new members to a rhetoric club.
Evaluations were thoughtful and reflective, demonstrating once again that growth begins with careful listening.
During Table Topics, we ventured into questions such as the advantages and dangers of judging a book by its cover.

Genuine engagement and insightful reflections made the virtual setting feel anything but distant. We look forward to seeing you in person at our next gathering.

**Vom Schachbrett in die Zukunft** - Ein kleiner Einblick in unser letztes deutschsprachiges Club-Meeting.

Sieben Gäste, ein erstmaliger Moderator – und eine Reise mitten ins Computerzeitalter. Der Auftakt? Das legendäre Duell *Kasparov vs. Deep Blue*. Mensch gegen Maschine. Strategie gegen Algorithmus. Spannung garantiert.

In den Stegreifreden wurde es spontan und visionär:
Wie verändert Technik unsere Kommunikation?
Wie wird die nächste Generation auf uns zurückblicken?
Und – fast philosophischer Streitpunkt des Abends – ist der Thermomix Fortschritt oder Verrat an der Kochkunst?

Gedacht, gelacht, reflektiert.
Und am Ende stand fest: Zukunft beginnt mit einem guten Gespräch.

✨ January at Our Toastmasters Club: A Month of Ideas in Motion ✨

We started the year exactly as we mean to continue it: curious, thoughtful, and boldly expressive.

In January, our prepared speeches took us on a journey from the origins and evolving meanings of words, to the art of mastering life with greater ease, and even into philosophical reflections on artificial intelligence and its place in our future.
Our Table Topics were just as lively: intuition, happiness, success, and flights of fantasy that transported us through imaginative inventions and alternate realities. Ideas moved fast, laughter followed, and perspectives widened.
Above all, we practiced what truly matters: listening actively, speaking with intention, leading with clarity, and growing continuously.

If you enjoy meaningful conversations, a supportive atmosphere, and the chance to sharpen both mind and voice, our meetings might be exactly where your year should unfold next.
