🫡A Sustaining Legacy: Advancing the Future of Warfighter Support

The 16th Sustainment (Knights) Brigade bids a very special farewell to General Christopher Donahue, outgoing U.S. Army Europe and Africa Commander. Thank you for your service, your steadfast support, and the impact you’ve made in shaping and enabling our brigade’s ability to support the warfighter.

This video also highlights engagements with Maj. Gen. Michael Lalor, 21st Theater Sustainment Command Commander, during the grand opening of the 21st TSC Milworks Innovation Center. The content showcases several facets of ongoing brigade innovation and examples of Knights Brigade Soldiers executing operations that directly mirror and advance this command guidance as the organization continues to scale its capabilities across the theater.

His mentorship, guidance, and vision — which bore a leathal focus on warfighting among many other defining attributes — have been instrumental in increasing the lethality and survivability of the sustainment enterprise. General Donahue’s impact is profound and lasting, both across the globe and throughout our profession.

💪 Fit to Fight

This morning, Col. Richardson and Command Sgt. Maj. Ingram participated in a weekly APEX test with junior officers of the 16th Sustainment Brigade, stationed within the Kaiserslautern Military Community. The session took place at the Functional Fitness Center on Rheinland Ordnance Barracks.

The test consisted of four sets of 20 American kettlebell swings, followed by dragging 45 pounds for 50 meters, and concluded with a max plank, a component of the Army Combat Fitness Test.

During the session, Col. Richardson emphasized the importance of maintaining physical readiness, stating:

“Physical fitness is a critical component of Holistic Health and Fitness. It is paramount that we are physically fit, as it directly contributes to overall readiness, resilient Soldiers, and building cohesive teams.”

Following the event, the junior officers received professional development focused on the Army profession and the strategic impact the brigade delivers across three Combatant Commands.

The Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion conducted a change of command ceremony at Tower Barracks, Grafenwoehr, on June 11, 2026.

The ceremony formally transferred authority and ensured continuity of leadership, keeping the “Archangels” postured to synchronize logistics and deliver essential readiness support across the battalion.

This seamless transition preserves the unit’s operational momentum and strengthens its uniquely integrated logistics, signal, and military intelligence capabilities.

Capt. Aaron J. Shafor passed the guidon to Capt. Cassandra S. Collier, marking the conclusion of his successful tenure providing mission command to the “Archangels.” Shafor, a Louisiana native who rose from the enlisted ranks to command the company, now departs for his next assignment alongside his wife and their two children.

Collier, who transitioned from the Indiana Army National Guard to active duty and most recently served with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, assumes command supported by her husband and their two children.

Best wishes to Capt. Shafor in his future endeavors, and to Capt. Collier as she leads the “Archangels” into their next chapter of mission excellence.

Excellence is never the result of one person’s effort. It’s a shared endeavor—one where leaders pass the mantle with pride, and the formation continues to strengthen and improve the organization.

🏆👏Congratulations to the Soldiers of the 493rd Petroleum Support Company on earning recognition as the Army’s best petroleum company.

The 16th Sustainment Brigade command team visited the formation to formally present plaques and commend the Soldiers for their exceptional performance, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to the mission.

Their achievement reflects the professionalism and readiness of the 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion and the broader Knights Brigade team.
