Pedro Vilela is a Brazilian artist based in Porto, Portugal. Founder of TREMA!, he has been active in the fields of curatorship, theatrical creation, and academic research, with a focus on counter-colonial thought and on political, identity, and racial issues related to his continent of origin. His work seeks to establish connections between Europe and Latin America. In addition to his creative projects, he curates the TREMA! Festival and Quilombo_Trema!

CONTEXTOS emerges from the collective statement “I am because we are,” connecting young dancers from Cartagena (Colombia) and Berlin (Germany). Guided by choreographers Alex May and Gabriel Galíndez Cruz, the performers explore the body as a site of memory and transformation. The piece questions how environment and personal history shape our embodiment, weaving individual stories and understandings of dance. Rooted in the Afro-Colombian Bailes Cantados, traditional sounds engage in dialogue with contemporary movement. On stage, new forms of expression arise, dissolving imposed structures and presenting dance as a space for healing and self-discovery. CONTEXTOS is a space of encounter that bridges differences and opens paths for collective creation.​​

Meet the founder of PLATAFORMA BERLIN FESTIVAL, Martha Hincapié Charry: A BIPoC Colombian artist, decolonial curator, choreographer, and researcher dedicated to creating spaces of unlearning and dialogue.

Martha holds an MA from UdK Berlin and studied dance theater under the legendary Pina Bausch, an experience that earned her the prestigious Pina Bausch Fellowship. As the artistic director of Plataforma/SurReal Berlin Festival, her work connects continents, embodying ancestral wisdom and addressing vital topics like climate chaos and the kinship between humans and the more-than-human world.

She has curated for institutions like Radialsystem Berlin, La Bienal de Danza de Cali, and Barazani Berlin. A true global connector, Martha is an ISPA Global Fellow and an IETM Global Connector 2025. Her work is a powerful reflection on decoloniality, survival, and a deep, ecofeminist connection to the earth.

es ist Zeit für ein Update – und eine Bitte an euch!

Seit über zehn Jahren bringen wir mit South Embassy (www.south-embassy.com) das Beste aus Lateinamerika nach Europa. Ob handgemachte Mode, exquisite Delikatessen, Kunst oder Design – wir haben immer versucht, euch authentische Einblicke und einzigartige Produkte zu bieten, die Geschichten erzählen. Wir sind mehr als nur ein Laden oder eine Agentur; wir sind ein Ort des Austauschs und der kulturellen Brücke.

Viele von Euch wissen, dass die letzten Jahre nicht einfach waren. Die Pandemie und gestiegene Mietkosten zwangen uns, unseren geliebten Concept-Store vorübergehend zu schließen. Wir bedauern die Umstände, die dazu geführt haben, zutiefst und entschuldigen uns für eventuelle Unannehmlichkeiten. Dazu kam, dass ich persönlich mit dem Verlust kämpfen hatte, was mich emotional stark belastet hat.

Jetzt ist es an der Zeit für einen Neuanfang! Wir planen die strategische Wiedereröffnung in einem neuen, gemütlichen Showroom in Berlin-Mitte und bauen gleichzeitig unsere Omnichannel-Retail-Erfahrung sowie unsere Online-Präsenz weiter aus. Wir wollen das Einkaufserlebnis neu beleben und South Embassy in eine neue Phase des nachhaltigen Wachstums führen.

Dafür brauchen wir Eure Hilfe!
