Did you know?
Most receipts are printed on thermal paper with a chemical coating.
This coating reacts to heat, allowing text to appear without ink.

As regulations changed, BPA was largely restricted and often replaced by similar chemicals like BPS. While laws continue to evolve, most receipts are still coated today.

Many of us still think of cans as “just metal”.
In reality, most canned foods and beverages are lined with a thin plastic-based coating.

This lining serves important functions:
it prevents corrosion, protects flavour, and extends shelf life.
At the same time, it means food and drinks are stored in continuous contact with plastic — often long before we buy them.

We tend to check how long a product is consumable,
but not when it was packed or how long it’s been in contact with its packaging.

A few simple swaps can make a difference:
choosing glass jars or bottles when possible,
opting for fresh or frozen foods,
and transferring leftovers after opening a can.
