- Until the end of August, Oberammergau, Laberbergbahn, Long Thursday, Enjoy a ride with the nostalgic mountain railroad in Oberammergau up the Laber. On "Long Thursday" you have the opportunity to enjoy the sunset from a different angle. A comfortable gondola floats up to the round Laber peak from the Oberammergau district of St. Gregor at an altitude of 1684 meters. The Laber, the local mountain of Oberammergau, is not necessarily one of the highest peaks in the Bavarian Alps, but certainly one of the most panoramic. Afterwards, you can have dinner in the mountain restaurant and strengthen yourself for the numerous hiking trails. The good cuisine of the "Laberei" invites you for a snack, where you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.

Until Sun, August 2, Munich, Mariahilf Platz, Jacobi Dult, The traditional Dult fair around Mariahilfs Church will delight visitors with food stands, crafts, antiques and fun rides. Looking back to a 700-year history, the annual Dult fairs are without a doubt Munich's most traditional open-air events. From the 14th century on, the festivals were held to honor saints and market vendors presented their goods in front of churches. However, since then the original purpose of the market has shifted to a secularized fair. Nostalgia nonetheless characterizes this charming event, which offers old-fashioned rides and a treasure chest of knick-knacks: ceramics, soaps, candy, household articles and so on. The market will be open each day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Rides start at 10:30 am.

Until – Sun, August 2, At the Wittelsbach Park by the Loisach bridge, Garmischer Festwoche The folklore week starts with gun salute and a parade of all participants to the fest tent. On spe-cial occasions and anniversaries, the parade will be much larger and take place on a Sunday with the addition of the mountain troops, local clubs, colorfully decorated carriages, bands, flag carriers and the folklore clubs of the neighboring villages. The program in the beer tent is made of folklore in all its facets: performances of the girls and boys of the folklore club doing dances and “Schuhplattler“, the „historic old dance“with its minuet like movements almost reminds you of the ancient art of baroque dancing. Many other Bavarian folklore highlights show how deeply rooted the customs and traditions really are. True folklore, traditional dress, song and dance of the local people can be experienced in a pure way in those beer tents.

Fri, July 31 – Sun, August 16, 8 a.m., Innsbruck/Tirol | Herzog-Siegmund Ufer, Fish Market, “Fischvergnügen am Inn” brings the authentic atmosphere of a North German fish market to Innsbruck’s market square. Shipped within 48 hours, seafood delicacies end up on visitors’ plates right alongside local Tyrolean specialties. The culinary offerings are complemented by hearty pan-fried dishes, sweet treats, and authentic, tangy Jever Pils. The traditional costume association offers, among other things, Schuhplattler dances, singing, and musical performances. Draft beer, chicken, and authentic Bavarian snacks are highly sought after. In case of bad weather, the festival will be cancelled.

- The Gebirgsmusikkorps der Bundeswehr open-air anniversary concert takes place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Kurparkmuschel inside the Michael-Ende-Kurpark in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. This special event celebrates the military mountain band's 70th anniversary. Under the direction of Major Rudolf Piehlmayer, the band will perform a broad spectrum of music ranging from classical pieces to traditional marches, original wind compositions, and rock medleys from bands like Deep Purple and Queen. Admission: Free, this open-air appearance is part of the town's local GaPa Live summer music series.

Sat, July 25, 10 a.m., Grainau, Volunteer Fire Department, Open House There are two good reasons to visit the volunteer fire department at the fire station (Parkweg) on Saturday, July 18. The department is holding an open house, and it's also celebrating a special anniversary. "The 135 years aren't our main focus this year. Rather, we want to offer the public insights into the work of the fire department and officially commission our new multi-purpose vehicle, based on a Mercedes Sprinter, and place it under God's blessing," says Second Commander Josef Keller Sr. The department has put together a varied program. The day begins with a festive parade starting at 10.15 a.m. from Untergrainau to the fire station. The blessing of the vehicle will take place there. The Grainau brass band and "D'Noagalzuzla" will provide musical entertainment later on. To the official part A colorful program for young and old follows, including a bouncy castle, crate climbing, and rides in the large fire engine. During a demonstration (starting at 2 p.m.), the firefighters will demonstrate a technical rescue and a car fire. Food and drinks will be available, including burgers, fries, cake, and a bar.

Wed, July 29, 8 p.m., Partenkirchen, Kurpark, GaPa Live | Silk Brass, Silk Brass was founded in 1997 and is based in the picturesque village of Marton in Warwickshire. Originally a group of just ten musicians, the band quickly grew into a full-fledged traditional brass band. The band performs throughout Northwest England, presenting concert programs that offer something for everyone – from classic brass band repertoire to modern pop arrangements – delighting audiences wherever they play. Furthermore, the band is a successful competition band, having participated in and won numerous competitions across the UK. Currently ranked in the First Section, the band competes against some of the best brass bands in the country. Together with the Partenkirchen Brass Band, the band will perform a concert in Laura-Dahlmeier-Park, which promises to be a highlight of the season for all fans of wind and brass band music.

Thu, July 30, 6 p.m., Garmisch, Kurpark, GaPa Live | 70 years of the Mountain Music Corps Founded in 1956 as the band of the 1st Mountain Division in Sonthofen, the present-day Mountain Music Corps finally found its permanent home in the world-famous Olympic town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1963. Besides its diverse repertoire, which is also reflected in various musical ensembles such as "Hütten-Musi" (a traditional Bavarian folk music style) or alphorn music, the traditional association primarily performs as a large symphonic wind orchestra and represents the German Armed Forces as a musical ambassador. The musicians under the edelweiss emblem represent Germany and Bavaria at a wide variety of events. Their numerous engagements each year, which take place predominantly in Bavaria, include national tours, troop support in the German Armed Forces' deployment areas, and invitations to international military music festivals abroad. Canada, the USA, Finland, Switzerland, and Great Britain are just a few examples of the many international engagements they have undertaken.
