🚲 Jinja Goes Car-Free!
This Sunday, 21 Sept, Jinja joins the global movement! 🌍
From 8 AM–2 PM, Main Street (Bell Ave ↔ Clive Rd) becomes a safe, vibrant zone for walking, cycling & fun!
Why it matters:

🎨 Activities include chalk art, bike demos, games, and more! Let’s celebrate sustainable transport together!
This Sunday, 21st September 2025, Jinja City Council, together with partner NGOs will join the world in celebrating World Car Free Day.
From 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a section of Jinja Main Street (between Bell Avenue and Clive Road) will be temporarily closed to motorised traffic and open only to bicycles, walking, and other non-motorised transport.
Why Car Free Day.
• To promote sustainable transportation.
• To raise awareness about the benefits of cycling, walking, and other eco-friendly mobility
• To reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in Jinja City
• To enhance public health and active lifestyles
• To create safe, vibrant spaces for children’s play and community activities
• To foster community spirit in a traffic-free environment
We warmly invite all residents and visitors to come, participate, and experience Jinja in a new way free of cars, full of life. Many activities such as street chalking, critical mass, street cricket, bicycle testing, kids games, living room challenge.
