CW2 Banks is recognized as the NETCOM-E soldier of the Month in appreciation and recognition for his calm leadership of the Networks Branch and his ability to manage the NIPR gateway project. He has stepped into the role and learned the processes and systems necessary to keep his personal and branch projects on track to support warfighter requirements. In addition, CW2 Banks has contributed to the success of NETCOM-E by his enthusiasm for helping with other division efforts and projects. These attributes have led to CW2 Banks establishing himself as a valued member of the Network and Transport team. His efforts have contributed to network improvements across the European theater and directly enable contingency operations. CW2 Banks accomplishments reflect great credit upon himself, NETCOM-Europe, this Command, and the United States Army.

Civilian of the Month - Arpil 2024
Mr. Charles (Chuck) Almquist is recognized as the NETCOM-E Civilian of the Month in appreciation and recognition for his selfish leadership and served as the acting Division Chief, keeping multiple high visibility projects on-schedule while contributing to the strategic organizational realignment of NETCOM-Europe. Under his leadership the division kept TDM circuit decommissioning efforts across the theater on-track and in-line with Army G6
milestones, paving the way for significant cost savings to the Army. A technical expert, he ensured installation of a new mission critical MPLS node in the Benelux, saving the Army leased circuit costs while increasing capability and survivability. In support of continuity of operations, he oversaw the update of theater wide area network architecture documentation used to drive Army transport modernization and expansion at the DISA hosted DISN-X conference. Mr. Charles Almquist’s accomplishments reflect great
credit upon himself, NETCOM Europe, Network Enterprise Technology Command, and the United States Army.

Soldier of the Month – MAR 2024
SGT Manuel Cortes-Correa is recognized at the NETCOM-Europe Soldier of the Month in appreciation of his self-preservation by gaining as much knowledge and understanding about this new career as he possibly can. SGT Cortes switched career paths from Armor to Signal and has not looked back since. This focused drive allows him to utilize skills in tackling unknown problems, where his maximized research and knowledge gathering capabilities are prevalent. He not only solves problems but strives to understand them from input to output. SGT Cortes pushes himself to become self-sufficient in all tasks and observation shows that once he is shown the path, he can retain and repeat it professionally. His thorough troubleshooting skills help him solve problems effecting supported Users in a timely manner significantly reducing productivity downtime within the organization. He has quickly picked up daily operations in network connection, hardware/software upgrades, to include VTC and Voice connections. Civilian of the Month – MAR 2024
Ms. Chloe Wiggins is recognized as the NETCOM Civilian of the Month for her role as Lead Project Manager in migration of the European Theater Service Management tool from Remedy to the Service Now backed Army Enterprise Service Management Program (AESMP). Ms. Wiggins identified a critical need to ensure our migration was managed from the beginning with authorization of all Theater Signal Technicians from Leadership down to Desktop IMOs at each Unit level. To increase communications, she volunteered as the in-country pivotal release point of all account requests, work group inquiries, training schedules, and process developments, culminating in “One Voice” directly with the NETCOM Program Manager in CONUS. Due to time zone differences, Ms. Wiggins sacrificed her personal time to ensure the AESMP development team remained in synch with processes and business-end requirements to make the transition a timely success. Ms. Wiggins’ accomplishments reflect great credit upon herself, NETCOM Europe, the Command, and the United States Army.

His technical advisement, IT Service Management, and budgetary skills were critical in defense and ex*****on of NETCOM Europe requirements supporting the European community of interest for USEUCOM area of responsibility. Mr. Armstrong’s shown excellent leadership in driving operations resulting in improved organizational ITSM processes, performance reporting, and metrics supporting current operation reporting. CW3 Darrell Malone is recognized as the NETCOM Europe Soldier of the Month in appreciation and recognition for going above and beyond what is required for two vital projects. CW3 Malone distinguished himself by leading an engineering effort to complete the upgrade to the end of life/ end of service (EOL/EOS) hardware in support of a special connection point for USAEUR-AF to the Army Enterprise Data Centers (AEDCs). He ensured the important connection continued to support GCCS-J and additional specialized connections for EUCOM with dedicated high-speed access to the AEDCs. CW3 Malone displayed selfless service, impressive leadership skills, and willingness to assist customers and theater team members. His outstanding professionalism, dedication to duty, “can do” work ethic, and technical engineering competence has strengthened the work of his teammates. SFC Alexander Valdez is recognized as NETCOM Soldier of the Month in appreciation of his dedication to make a difference in streamlining business update processes within NETCOM Europe. His consolidation, scheduling and tracking skills were key in the management of a myriad of daily and weekly briefings conducted with European COCOM and ACC units, Command and G3 Operations at NETCOM Headquarters and 2nd Sig Bde, as well as internal NETCOM Europe Director briefs. SFC Valdez meticulously ensures all operational documents are updated, available, reviewed, and prepared for whichever classified or unclassified network is utilized. As a key technology integrator, he led the way for preparing and executing device replacement of outdated Video Communication equipment within the Directorate. SFC Valdez’s accomplishments reflect great credit upon himself, NETCOM Europe, the Command, and the United States Army.

Mr. Brent Webster is recognized as the NETCOM Civilian of the Month in appreciation and recognition for going above and beyond what is required as a project manager. Brent distinguished himself by leading an effort to degauss, shred and recycle materials located at AEDC-Grafenwoehr Germany that assisted the NEC Data Center personnel to clear over 10 cabinets which now can be used for future customers and reduce power and electrical resources. He displayed selfless service and his impressive leadership skills by physically being available to lead the combined teams and his willingness to help assist the other NEC team members. His outstanding professionalism, dedication to duty, "can do" work ethic, and technical project management competence has amplified the work of his teammates. CPT Blackwood is recognized as the NETCOM Europe Soldier of the Quarter, 3rd Quarter 2023. CPT Blackwood’s efforts in proactively initiating process improvements and developing tools to streamline project management efforts have had a tremendous positive impact on the unit. His expertise was key in developing and leading efforts which gained $3.7M to restart a critical infrastructure project. His leadership efforts were essential to develop and operationalize a long range calendar to synchronize projects, personnel, and major milestones. Team Award - Facilities Management Team – March 2024
NETCOM Europe wishes to recognize the Facilities Management Team for an extremely successful life-cycle replacement of outdated, dysfunctional, and unusable office furniture from within 33 offices located in 2 buildings. Mr. Eric Armstrong lead the team in planning, contract acquisition, and delivery acceptance. SFC Jonas Farr coordinated an office cleaning contract. SFC Joshua Seaman conducted initial surveys for disposal and acquired vendor quotes. SFC Valdez executed office supply relocation, bulk document shredding and new office furniture placements. SSG Quindara managed property accountability and post-move inspections. SGTs Amanda Walker and Manuel Cortes executed technical equipment storage and setup, including computer peripheral disposal. This remarkable team effort was keenly synchronized to minimize the shortest possible business disruption. Despite weather conditions delays, shortage of containers, and final-hour adjustments to ex*****on timelines, they persevered in remaining on schedule. This positive morale improvement is evident through the praise received from returning Employees, NETCOM Europe Leadership, and its Community Business Customers.

NETCOM Europe soldiers, SGT Manuel Cortes and SFC Joshua Seaman, joined allied forces in Denmark on a 50 mile ruck march covering 25 miles over two days on 4-5 May 2024. The event was organized by the Denmark Army as a practice march for the approaching annual Nijmegen, Netherlands International 4-day March in July. Military participants’ distance in that march will be 40 km in uniform, carrying at least 22lbs in a rucksack.

The NETCOM Europe Golf Team took second place in the Annual 2024 2nd Theater Signal Brigade Golf Tournament held at the American Rheinblick Golf Course in Wiesbaden, Germany. The team tied with 102nd Signal Battalion for a round of 15-under par. The tiebreaker decision was the 9th hole where 102nd Signal scored a Birdie and NETCOM-Europe scored a par, therefore receiving the 2nd place Trophy. Eric Armstrong, Tracey Oliver, SFC Joshua Seaman and CW3 Darrell Malone.
