Space Planning for EIFO, Copenhagen
2023

In connection with the merger of three organisations, KHR Architecture designed the interiors for EIFO’s new headquarters in Orienthuset in Nordhavn—10,600 sqm across four floors, now home to 450 employees.

The project establishes a contemporary workplace that supports flexibility, collaboration, and everyday working life.

Organised around a “hub and spoke” principle, the layout creates a range of spaces for both focused work and informal interaction. Developed in close dialogue with the client, the interior is defined by a Nordic palette and materials that align with the existing architecture.

Kirsebærhaven, Copenhagen
2018

A housing development located on the edge of Copenhagen, positioned between the city and the surrounding landscape.

Kirsebærhaven explores how housing can be organised to create everyday encounters, allowing residents to move between privacy and shared life.

The homes are interwoven to create alternating entrances and gardens along the façade, adding a social and visual rhythm to the development. Materials such as brick and wood relate to the surrounding context, while shared green spaces and private outdoor areas support a balance between privacy and interaction.

Thatched Summer House
Tibirke, Denmark, 2024

The Tibirke Summer House is a contemporary coastal retreat that reinterprets the traditional Danish summer cottage within the protected landscape of Tibirke Bakker.
The architectural approach utilizes a fluid floor plan with no dead ends and a sculptural thatched roof, featuring perforated pine shutters, allowing the degree of openness to vary with use and season.
The Nordic-Japanese-inspired interior design, featuring beautiful, durable materials is developed in close collaboration with Garde Hvalsøe.

Nomad Workspace, Copenhagen
2016

Nomad Workspace is a high-end serviced office and coworking space located within the iconic former courthouse on Blegdamsvej.
This project represents a respectful transformation of a historic interior, fostering community building by blending the professional needs of modern entrepreneurs with the refined atmosphere of a private club.
The architectural approach is supported by an interior design using a sophisticated palette of custom-designed furniture, rich textures, and strategic lighting to respect the building's heritage while creating a dynamic, human-centered work environment.

Copenhagen Metro, Copenhagen
1995 - 2003

The Copenhagen Metro is a subterranean transit system that redefined urban mobility and infrastructure design in the Danish capital.

This project represents a masterclass in community building and urban transformation, placing the passenger experience at the center of a complex technical network to create a seamless city-wide connection.

The architectural approach focuses on the "metro-column," a design concept that brings natural daylight deep into the underground stations through glass skylights, ensuring a safe, intuitive, and airy atmosphere for commuters.

Gråbrødre Hus, Roskilde
2021

Gråbrødre Hus is a residential development on the site of the former Gråbrødre School, integrating new housing into the historic fabric of central Roskilde.

The project transforms a former institutional site into a residential environment, centred around a courtyard that is open to the public.

The architectural approach builds on the qualities of the existing neoclassical school building, extending it with a new structure that aligns with its scale, proportions, and materiality.

New Faculty of Health Sciences (Nyt SUND), Odense, Denmark

The New Faculty of Health Sciences, known as Nyt SUND, is a 50,000 sqm research and educational facility that physically links the University of Southern Denmark with the New Odense University Hospital.
The architecture of NytSUND supports the ambition to set new standards as an educational and research environment. The plan and flow of the building support cross-collaboration and provides flexibility to meet the changing needs of a dynamic organisation.

Nuuk School (Atuarfik Inussuk), Nuuk, Greenland
2026

Nuuk School, also known as Atuarfik Inussuk, is a landmark educational complex designed for 1,200 students and 120 children in daycare.
The architecture of Nuuk's new school does not only provide an optimal setting for learning, it is also designed to make the school a gathering place in the city.

The architectural expression is inspired by the ubiquitous Greenlandic nature. The building's roofs are shaped after the rocky landscape and appear silhouetted against the sky, like the contours of the mountains."

Grunwalds Have, Copenhagen
2024

Grunwalds Have is a housing development at the edge of Østerbro, bringing together 223 compact apartments—including 56 public youth housing units—along with shared facilities and a rehearsal stage for Østre Gasværk Theatre.

The project combines housing and culture, extending the creative environment of the theatre into the everyday life of the residents.
The building forms a sheltered green courtyard that supports social interaction, while its dynamic brickwork and deep window reveals bring daylight into the homes and relate to the surrounding masonry context.
