Working with what happens when multiplying a number with 10 or dividing it by 100.
Is it "just add a zero" og move the mark on spot?
No the kids realized that the number moves. Every digit get ten higher and jumps to the next position.

I love Building Thinking Classroom. Love how the students dare to try there theories, trying to find if there is a rule, is there a pattern.
My seventh grade saw two patterns:
You can seat 15, 22, 23, 29, 30, 31, 36, 37, 38, 39, 43,...
Can you see the pattern?
Would the pattern be different if you had table for six and seven og even 8 and 9 people. What happens if you have tables that seat 7 and 9 people?

1-30 with 5,4,3,2,1 in that order.
I had the students working in pairs, then half the pairs competed against the other half. Answer sheet was in the hallway, but they had to work on the problems inside the class, then run to the hallway to document their answer without any notes.
Great engagement. Lots of laughter, struggle, running and math talk.

Loved how engaging the students were
How they used there knowledge to work on a problem to find the exact percentage I asked for

Problemstring in eight grade.
How do you find 4% of 250 and you cant use a calculator, or 27% of 240 only by using what you already know.

Highly engaged teenagers
Low working with problem strings -and so do the students
