All-New Maps for the E-Series 135i and 335i are out!
We packed a lot of the features and tricks from the 8-Speed TCUs into those maps, to put the 6HP closer to it's successor, the 8HP.
The 8HP was a huge improvement over the old 6-Speed boxes, but those advantages are not only due to improved hardware. Actually a lot comes out of the refined program developed for the 8-Speed.
With the new V3.0 maps we transported some of those into the old 6-Speed TCU's, to make them just more versatile. The huge advantage of those maps is not only raw performance, but refinement. Buttery smooth on low loads, they can immediately and super-fast jump down multiple gears when mashing the throttle.
Also S-mode got a huge improvement. It now dynamically detects braking into a corner and starts to blip down gears to aid deceleration of the car. This is a feature BMW uses heavily on the M4 DCT and makes S-Mode much more usable for inspired country road driving.
Last but not least we added another 1.3 Bar of Line Pressure, to further increase holding power of the trans! This has been extensively tested and monitored to make sure the oil-pump and transmission bushings support the extra pressure.
Many changes won't be noticed instant. You really need to live with the new Maps and experience all kind of situations to notice the changes. Development for those maps started months ago and we're very happy to finally push them out!
