Today's weather forecast shows something most people would consider just another dust cloud.

We see something completely different.

Every year, almost 80,000 tons of Saharan dust cross the Atlantic with the trade winds and settle on our mountain forests. This mineral-rich dust, especially its phosphorus, naturally fertilizes our soils and creates exceptional growing conditions for our Vanilla planifolia.

The result? Vanilla beans with an exceptionally high natural vanillin content (4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde)—the compound responsible for the unmistakable aroma and flavor of real vanilla.
