Hoy es viernes de voluntarios! Here is a day in the life video from Kaitlyn, our capuchin researcher 🔍🐒

🏝️ Capuchin island is home to our 5 resident male capuchins, where they live a semi-free life in the wild. That way, even though they are not release candidates, they can still live a mostly wild life.

🐒 We have recently accepted another male from a zoo who could mo longer care for him, and he had been getting to know the others on the island in a habituation enclosure for the last two weeks!

🔍 Our capuchin researchers are observing the behaviors of the group, and will continue monitoring the dynamic after the new individual has been fully released on the island.

📸 Additionally, we have been using camera traps to monitor their interactions with the newcomer when we are not there, in case human presence has an effect on their behaviors.

These last couple of weeks, we said farewell to one volunteer from each of our three programs at amaZOOnico 👋🏼🦋

Mackenzie (🇺🇸) Emily (🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿) and Sami (🇪🇨)

Our sanctuary volunteers helps us with cleaning the enclosures, leading educational tours, and feeding our permanent residents 🍌🥑

Our research volunteers are helping with the husbandry tasks for our release candidates, collecting data for our long-term pre-release spider monkey study, and writing scientific reports🐒💻

Our vet volunteers helps our head vet with all of the veterinary work that must be done to make sure the animals at our center are healthy 🔬🩺

Without our volunteers, it would be impossible for us to carry out the upstanding work we are proud to do every single day 🐾🌿 Thank you so much for the dedication and passion you all have demonstrated 🥰
