Currently, we are building a pathway from the new entrance platform to the clinic. It´s a beautiful walk through the woods to reach the buildings and we are extremely happy about the results! It´s a stone and sand pathway and we are carrying all of the materials to the site by wheel barrow and with lots of just plain old muscles. We are halfway to the center and we´re constructing a new bridge to cross the stream. We have had incrediblly strong and inspired volunteers these last months...what would we do without you Mathew, Alice, Ayaka and Wilson!!! Agradecidos!!!

We have been working super hard on our new entrance way! We are constructing a short road to a parking platform and a new trail to reach the clinic building. We have been having trouble with our shared entrance with our neighbor and so we have decided to build our very own to avoid any further conflicts. Thanks to the consejo provincial of Pastaza (...and David Jackson, Glen Thompson and Ingrid Johy for pushing this through so quickly!!!) for donating the materials, machines and labor to do all of the work for us! Much appreciation to the local government and the volunteers that have been visiting in the last couple months...Including David Jackson (secretary), Glen Thompson (president), Wilson Ramirez (long time associate), Gary Rose (member), Peter Archer (director) and Ingrid Johy (member). It is still in process but should be finished very soon!!

Happy New year from FFDLA! The last month of 2016 was an awesome one for the foundation. Unseasonable rains have caused serious landslides, changed the courses of many rivers and damaged roads preventing vehicles from reaching the land. We have had to travel by foot or wait for days while the machines have fixed the roadways. Despite this we have had road successes of our own! The provincial government has provided us machinery and materials and has completed the first stage of contructing our new entranceway!! We are grateful for the hard work of board members David Anthony Jackson, Glen Thompson and member Ingrid Johy and for the generosity of Prefecto Antonio Kubes and Pastaza province. (More, soon, as the road project develops). We are also grateful to receive a group of herpetologists from the United States ( Tristan Schramer, Yatin Kalki, D.b. Wylie and Eric Osterman). They were able to Identify about 15 frog species, 4 snakes, 3 lizards and Dan, the leader of the group, who is also the manager of the enormous animal specimen collection at the University of Illinois, sighted about 60 birds. Thank you for helping us to develop our data of animals in our area and for traveling so far to do so! I would also like to mention that Eric Osterman, a member of the group, leads nightime herpetology tours in Mindo, Ecuador. Also, Mereño (from Mera) and friend of the foundation, Wilson Ramirez came out for a week to help our team. Cheers fellas!! Each visitor was a wealth of information and have greatly helped the conservation efforts that we are pursuing.

Our reserve and surroundings during the second year of construction of our Wildlife Conservation Centre - The Fundación Fauna de la Amazonía Team is based in Mera, in the Pastaza Province of Ecuador. Here we have recently purchased a plot of land bordering the Llanganates National Park where we are developing a wildlife conservation centre. This land is within the Llanganates Sangay Ecological Corridor, an area granted special recognition as a "Gift to the Earth" by the World Wildlife Fund for its mega diversity and importance to world ecology. We are working to develop a wildlife conservation centre on the land to implement research, wild animal release, community development and educational programmes, and increase established protected areas.
