The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then Senator John F.

Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. From that inspiration grew an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and friendship. Since that time, more than 240,000 Americans of all ages have responded to Kennedy’s call to serve and have helped communities in 161 countries to w

ork on issues ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation. Today's Peace Corps is more vital than ever, working in emerging and essential areas such as information technology and business development, and contributing to the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. Peace Corps Volunteers continue to support countless individuals who want to build a better life for themselves, their children, and their communities.

A throwback to ECUA 133 on their cultural trip. The aspiring TEFL Trainees had spent two days immersing themselves into key components of Ecuador’s ethnic background. Here, they learned about indigenous, and Afro Ecuadorian heritage, fostering a deeper understanding for the country’s diversity.

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, Peace Corps Ecuador staff joined the global movement to stand with survivors and raise awareness about sexual violence. Together, we continue working toward a future where respect, safety, and dignity are the norm.

ECUA 133 on their last day of experiential learning. Throughout pre-service training, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Trainees get hands on exposure within the school setting in preparation for their service. Teaching and learning alongside their counterparts equip them with thew necessary tools to excel at site!🇪🇨🌟

Health and Wellbeing PCV Matt C. managed a grant to bring nutrition education to Escuela del Campo. Through this effort, Matt helped build a new community greenhouse, now supported by 8 members of Escuela del Campo, 40+ community members, and 4 local service providers who are learning hands-on skills in sustainable gardening and nutrition.

This project came to life through grant funding, strong community involvement, and collaborative partnership. A wonderful example of what we can achieve when we grow together. 🌿✨💚
