What are the type of civic engagement we are involved in?

Social Responsibility because we are considering how not knowing how to swim can affect others and we are trying to implement a class in order to provide people with the basics of swimming. Advocacy and Education because we are trying to educate others on the dangers of not knowing how to swim and we are trying to persuade certain groups to go forward with this swim gym class elective in future curriculums.

Our call to action is to get you to spread the word about what we are doing on your social media accounts or to your friends verbally.

Why should you get involved? This class will be vital as it will teach kids how to swim and survive in the water, swimming is an important skill that everyone should know as it could save their life and if they can save their own life when swimming they are saving another persons life because they don’t have to try and safe your child. Swimming is a skill that will carry on into your adult life and will prove to be very helpful. Not only is swimming a survival skill but it’s also a fun skill for the summertime and going to the beach/ water parks. Everyone should know how to swim.

Our lifeguard training course is separate from the swimming curriculum. Students can learn to be lifeguards and earn extra credit and community service hours by taking this course.

Lastly our third swim course Swim III will be for the advanced and intermediate swimmers who want to improve their swimming skills outside of swim teams/ clubs. This class will give an opportunity to Advanced swimmers to push themselves in water training activities and diving board training.

Swim II will be more about fun water activities so if your child already knows how to swim this is the class for them. This class will start off with the basics of swimming and maneuvering into water games and fun such as; water volleyball, water basketball, water polo, and many more activities.

Swim I will be the most foundational as it will be a class about learning to swim and learning how to survive in the water. Students will practice water activities that will get them comfortable in the water and teach them how to swim effectively.
