💭 Is loneliness something we know how to talk about enough?

From 15–21 June, Loneliness Awareness Week will take place, aiming to draw attention to loneliness and encourage more open conversations about it.

As part of the week, visitors can explore the photo exhibition “Loneliness Does Not Ask Your Age”, where people share their experiences of loneliness through photographs and personal stories. The exhibition helps us understand that loneliness can affect any of us – regardless of age, background or stage of life.

In addition, a discussion will take place on 20 June, focusing on loneliness and its impact on our wellbeing.

🚨 On Wednesday, 10 June 2026, the Estonian Rescue Board will test the EE-ALARM public warning system.

Between 15:00 and 15:10, test notifications will be sent through the Eesti app and the “Be Prepared!” app, warning messages will appear on ERR channels, and sirens will be activated.

💬 Before the test, everyone will receive an SMS notification. Please inform your family members and friends, especially children and older people, to avoid unnecessary concern — this is only a test and there is no real danger.

To receive warning notifications, download the Eesti app or the “Ole valmis!” app and make sure notifications are enabled.

📢 Use this test as an opportunity to review your emergency preparedness. Think about where you would shelter in the event of a real emergency and, if possible, practise doing so wherever you are at the time — at home, at work, at school, or out in public. During the test, nearly 90 public shelters across Estonia will be open to visitors from 14:45 to 15:30.

The next EE-ALARM test will take place on 14 October.

Tallinna liikus on 9. juunil häiritud!

Seega tuleb teisipäeval Tallinna liikluses arvestada ulatuslike liikumispiirangutega.

Tehnika Street is taking a step into the future. 🌳🚲

Plans include building separated cycle paths along the entire street, making intersections safer, and adding more greenery and street furniture.

The result will be a street that is safer and more comfortable for everyone — whether you're cycling, walking, or driving.

🚬 Do you know where to dispose of your e-cigarette?

If you spot the orange box shown in the photo around the city — marked “e-sigaretid” — that’s where you can dispose of your used e-cigarette.

E-cigarettes are not regular waste — they contain flammable batteries, electronics, and hazardous substances. If disposed of incorrectly, they can cause fires and harm the environment.

📍 The collection bins are being installed in locations where they are needed most, such as near public transport stops and shopping centres.

If you use e-cigarettes, please dispose of them properly — in the orange collection bin, at a waste station, or at a point of sale.

🌸 Cherry trees are in bloom across the city!

Did you know there are 14 places in Tallinn where you can enjoy cherry blossoms each spring?

It all began in 1999, when the Japan–Estonia Friendship Association donated 200 cherry tree saplings to Estonia as a living symbol of friendship between our two countries. From those original trees — and their descendants — springtime blossom spots have now spread across Estonia.

🗺️ Jaapani Suursaatkond Eestis / 在エストニア日本国大使館 / Embassy of Japan in Estonia has put together a map of all 14 locations in Tallinn, making it easier for everyone to discover them.

What’s your favourite place in Tallinn to admire the cherry blossoms?

🇪🇺 On Saturday, we celebrate Europe Day!

On 9 May, Vabaduse väljak will turn into a large Europe Day festival area, where you can explore the cultures of different European countries, visit embassy and organisation tents, and discover exciting activities for the whole family.

You can also take part in an orienteering game throughout the day and end the evening with a free concert starting at 18:00.

🚧 From 5 May at 10:00, the inbound direction at the Hipodroomi intersection will be closed!

From 5 to 29 May, traffic will be redirected to the opposite carriageway, which will result in more complicated traffic conditions and longer travel times.

👉 During the first days, traffic controllers will be on site, and traffic light cycles will be adjusted if needed.

We recommend you:

When coming from Keila, choose an alternative route (e.g. via Pärnu maantee) or consider taking the train
When travelling from Tabasalu or Harku, use the Mustamäe route where possible
Keep in mind that the bus lane is reserved for public transport only

📅 From 1 June, the outbound direction will be closed on the section between Mooni Street and Merelahe Street.

Please allow extra travel time and follow temporary traffic management signs.
