🤵♂️ 🇨🇿 President Petr Pavel will undertake a state visit to Estonia this week. During his visit, he will meet on Wednesday with senior representatives of this key Czech ally, including President Alar Karis, Prime Minister Kristen Michal, and Speaker of the Riigikogu Lauri Hussar. On the first day of the visit, he will also attend a cybersecurity conference. On Thursday, President Pavel is scheduled, among other engagements, to inspect fortifications being constructed along the borders with Russia and to visit the University of Tartu.
🛫 The President will be accompanied by his wife, Eva Pavlová, and a business delegation of more than 30 representatives.
The official program of the state visit will begin with a ceremonial welcome on Wednesday, 27 May at 9:30 a.m. at Freedom Square in Tallinn, followed by a meeting between the two heads of state at the Presidential Palace in Kadriorg. Presidents Pavel and Karis will then speak at the international CyCon conference on cybersecurity and conflict, organized by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE). The Director of the Czech National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) will also accompany President Pavel.
💼 The accompanying business delegation will focus primarily on the defense industry and cyber security, while also including representatives of Škoda Group, which supplies trains and trolleybuses to Estonia, and VAFO Group, which has established a state-of-the-art pet food production facility in eastern Estonia. Senior officials from the Czech Ministry of Defence will also be part of the delegation. Trade between the Czech Republic and Estonia continues to grow, with bilateral trade reaching CZK 21.7 billion last year. A Czech-Estonian Business Forum, organized in cooperation with the Estonian Chamber of Commerce, will take place in Tallinn on Wednesday.
🏫 On Thursday, President Pavel and the delegation will travel to the city of Tartu, where he will meet local representatives and visit the University of Tartu. The university is among the leading institutions in the region and attracts strong interest from Czech students and academics. During the visit, a cooperation agreement will be signed to affirm long-term collaboration with Masaryk University in Brno in the fields of life sciences and cybersecurity. In southern Estonia, the Czech delegation will also be briefed on the construction of the Baltic Defence Line along the border with Russia.
