At the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, paid a state visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt on September 1–2, 2026. The visit coincided with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Egypt was the first Arab and African country to recognize the People’s Republic of China and establish diplomatic relations with it in 1956.
Over the past seven decades, the cooperation and friendship between the two countries have witnessed remarkable development and continued to progress in a sound and stable manner, reflecting the enduring characteristics of Egyptian-Chinese friendship, including equality, mutual trust, mutual benefit, solidarity and support, and win-win cooperation.
Egyptian-Chinese relations have also served as a driving force in fostering the spirit of friendship and cooperation between China and Arab and African countries.
The two presidents held official talks covering the full range of bilateral relations between the two countries. They reviewed the remarkable development and qualitative leap witnessed in bilateral ties since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in 2014. They also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common interest and reached broad-ranging consensus.
