سيداري ينظّم دورة تدريبية في الإسعافات الأولية بالتعاون مع الهلال الأحمر المصري

في إطار حرصه على تعزيز الوعي بإجراءات السلامة ورفع جاهزية موظفيه للاستجابة السريعة والفعّالة للحالات الطارئة، نظّم مركز البيئة والتنمية للإقليم العربي وأوروبا (سيداري)، بالتعاون مع الهلال الأحمر المصري - Egyptian Red Crescent، دورة تدريبية في الإسعافات الأولية بمقر المركز، خلال الفترة من 30 أغسطس إلى 1 سبتمبر 2026.

تعرّف موظفو المركز خلال الدورة على أهم إجراءات الإسعافات الأولية الواجب اتباعها في مختلف الحالات الطارئة والحوادث، إلى جانب تلقيهم تدريباً عملياً على كيفية تطبيقها بصورة صحيحة، بما يسهم في توفير بيئة عمل أكثر أماناً.

As part of its commitment to raising awareness about emergency preparedness and rapid response, the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), in collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent, held a first aid training program at its headquarters from August 30 to September 1, 2026.

Staff members received hands-on instruction in key emergency procedures, reinforcing their commitment to safety and building a more secure work environment.

We are pleased to conclude CEDARE’s Sustainability Insights Series with the fifth and final Insight:
“What’s the Cost of Sustainability?”
In this final Insight, we explore the true cost of sustainability and why it should be considered as an integral part of a project’s life-cycle cost, rather than simply an additional project expense.
The Insight highlights the key components of sustainability costs, including:
🔹 Initial Investment (CAPEX)
🔹 Design & Planning
🔹 Certification
🔹 Technology
🔹 Operation & Maintenance (OPEX)
🔹 Social Costs
🔹 Compliance
🔹 Climate Resilience
Importantly, sustainability does not necessarily mean higher overall project costs. While it may increase initial investment, it can reduce life-cycle costs through lower energy and water consumption, reduced maintenance, longer asset life, lower climate and operational risks, reduced waste, and improved productivity and asset value.
A key project-management principle highlighted in this Insight is:
“Sustainability should be evaluated on Life-Cycle Cost (LCC), not only Initial Cost.”

"ما تكلفة الاستدامة؟"
يتناول هذا الـ Insight مفهوم التكلفة الحقيقية للاستدامة، ولماذا ينبغي النظر إليها باعتبارها جزءًا أساسيًا من تكلفة دورة حياة المشروع، وليس مجرد تكلفة إضافية تضاف إلى المشروع.
ويستعرض الـ Insight المكونات الرئيسية لتكلفة الاستدامة، ومن بينها:

ومن أبرز المبادئ التي يطرحها هذا الـ Insight:
"ينبغي تقييم الاستدامة على أساس تكلفة دورة الحياة (LCC)، وليس التكلفة الأولية فقط."

سيداري تطلق مدرسة حقلية متخصصة في محصول المانجا بقرية صول ضمن مشروع القرى الذكية

أطلق مركز البيئة والتنمية للإقليم العربي وأوروبا (سيداري) مدرسة حقلية متخصصة في تعزيز إنتاجية وجودة محصول المانجا بقرية صول، مركز أطفيح، محافظة الجيزة، وذلك في إطار تنفيذ مشروع «تعزيز الاستقلال الاقتصادي وتمكين المجتمع من خلال الزراعة الذكية مناخيًا والابتكار التكنولوجي (القرى الذكية)»، الممول من مؤسسة دروسوس، وبالتعاون مع وزارة الزراعة واستصلاح الاراضي - جمهورية مصر العربية و معهد بحوث الإرشاد الزراعي.

تُنفذ المدرسة الحقلية على مدار عام كامل، بما يتيح للمزارعين المتابعة العملية لمختلف مراحل الموسم الزراعي، بدءًا من نهاية الموسم السابق والاستعداد للموسم الجديد، مرورًا بأعمال التقليم ومراحل النمو والإنتاج، وصولًا إلى الحصاد، مع التركيز على تطبيق الممارسات الزراعية السليمة والفعالة.

تستهدف المدرسة الحقلية محصول المانجا، باعتباره من المحاصيل التي تشتهر بها المنطقة، وتهدف إلى تعزيز معارف وقدرات المزارعين في مجال وقاية النبات، إلى جانب نشر الممارسات الزراعية السليمة التي تسهم في الحصول على إنتاج ذي جودة عالية، والحد من الفاقد والمشكلات التي قد تؤثر على المحصول، ورفع كفاءة استخدام الموارد الطبيعية، وتعزيز قدرة المجتمعات الريفية على التكيف مع آثار تغير المناخ.

يعكس المشروع جهود سيداري الرامية إلى دعم المجتمعات الريفية، وتعزيز التنمية الزراعية المستدامة، ونشر الممارسات الزراعية الذكية مناخيًا، بما يسهم في مواجهة تحديات تغير المناخ، ودعم سبل العيش، وتعزيز الأمن الغذائي.

CEDARE Launches Farmer Field School for Mango Production in Sol Village as Part of the “Smart Villages” Project

The Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) has launched a Farmer Field School dedicated to enhancing mango productivity and quality in Sol Village, Atfih Center, Giza Governorate. The initiative is part of the project “Enhancing Economic Independence and Community Empowerment through Climate-Smart Agriculture and Technological Innovation (Smart Villages)”, funded by the Drosos Foundation and implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and the Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Research Institute.

The Farmer Field School is conducted over the course of a full year, enabling farmers to gain practical experience across the various stages of the agricultural season—from the end of the previous season and preparations for the new one, through pruning, growth, and production stages, to harvesting—while focusing on the application of sound and effective agricultural practices.

The field school focuses on mango production, one of the crops for which the area is well known, aiming to enhance farmers’ knowledge and skills in plant protection. It also promotes sound agricultural practices that contribute to achieving high-quality yields, reducing crop losses and production-related challenges, improving the efficiency of natural resource use, and strengthening rural communities’ resilience to the impacts of climate change

The project reflects CEDARE’s efforts to support rural
communities, promote sustainable agricultural development, and advance climate-smart agricultural practices, contributing to efforts to address the challenges posed by climate change, support rural livelihoods, and enhance food security.

سيداري يشارك في أعمال اللجنة التوجيهية للمركز الصيني العربي لأبحاث الجفاف والتصحر وتدهور الأراضي

في إطار تعزيز التعاون العربي الصيني، عُقد، على هامش مؤتمر الأطراف السابع عشر لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة التصحر (COP17) في أولان باتور، منغوليا، اجتماع للجنة التوجيهية للمركز الصيني العربي لأبحاث الجفاف والتصحر وتدهور الأراضي.

شارك في الاجتماع الدكتور عمر البدوي، خبير الموارد المائية والأراضي بمركز البيئة والتنمية للإقليم العربي و وأوروبا (سيداري)، إلى جانب عدد من الخبراء والباحثين من الجانبين العربي والصيني في مجال مكافحة التصحر وإدارة الأراضي.

ويهدف الاجتماع إلى تعزيز التعاون العربي الصيني في مجالات رصد الأرض والتقنيات الحديثة المستخدمة في هذا المجال، وتبادل الخبرات العملية والميدانية في مجال مكافحة التصحر، بالإضافة إلى استعراض أحدث التقنيات المستخدمة في أنظمة الإنذار المبكر ومراقبة العواصف، بهدف حماية المجتمعات الأكثر عرضة للمخاطر.

كما تناول الاجتماع تطوير أساليب إدارة الأراضي المتدهورة، وإطلاق مشروعات مشتركة للترميم البيئي، بما يسهم في دعم الجهود الرامية إلى الحد من آثار التصحر وتدهور الأراضي، وتعزيز الإدارة المستدامة للموارد الطبيعية.

CEDARE Participates in the Steering Committee Meeting of the China-Arab Center for Combating Desertification and Land Degradation

Within the framework of Arab-Chinese cooperation and following the outcomes of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, the Steering Committee of the China-Arab Center for Combating Desertification and Land Degradation convened.

Dr. Omar Al-Badawi, Water and Land Resources Expert at the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), participated in the meeting alongside experts and researchers from the Arab and Chinese sides specializing in combating desertification and land management.

The meeting aimed to strengthen Arab-Chinese cooperation in Earth observation and related modern technologies, as well as to facilitate the exchange of practical and field-based expertise in combating desertification. It also addressed the latest technologies used in early warning and storm monitoring systems to help protect communities most vulnerable to environmental risks.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the development of approaches for managing degraded lands and the launch of joint ecological restoration projects, supporting efforts to mitigate the impacts of desertification and land degradation and promote the sustainable management of natural resources.

نحو زراعة أكثر استدامة ومرونة: اختتام برنامج تدريبي حول الزراعة الذكية مناخيًا

اختتم مركز البيئة والتنمية للإقليم العربي وأوروبا (سيداري) برنامجًا تدريبيًا نُفذ خلال الفترة من 19 إلى 24 أغسطس 2026 فى قريه البرمبل بمركز أطفيح، محافظه الجيزه، وذلك في إطار مشروع "تعزيز الاستقلال الاقتصادي وتمكين المجتمع من خلال الزراعة الذكية مناخيًا والابتكار التكنولوجي (القرى الذكية)"، بهدف تعزيز قدرات المزارعين ونشر ممارسات الزراعة الذكية مناخيُا، بما يسهم في تحسين الإنتاجية، ورفع كفاءة استخدام الموارد الطبيعية، وتعزيز قدرة المجتمعات الريفية على التكيف مع تغير المناخ.

ركز البرنامج التدريبي على تزويد المشاركين بالمعارف والمهارات اللازمة لتطبيق مفاهيم الزراعة الذكية مناخيًا، من خلال استعراض أفضل الممارسات في الإدارة المستدامة للتربة والمياه، وسبل ترشيد استخدام مياه الري ورفع كفاءتها، إلى جانب التعريف بالممارسات الزراعية المستدامة التي تسهم في تحسين الإنتاجية، وأساليب الإدارة المتكاملة للآفات، والإدارة السليمة للمخلفات الزراعية وإعادة تدويرها، فضلًا عن تعزيز فهم آليات التكيف مع تغير المناخ وبناء نظم زراعية أكثر مرونة واستدامة.

كما اعتمد البرنامج على أسلوب تدريبي يجمع بين الجوانب النظرية والتطبيقية، بما أتاح للمشاركين فرصة تطبيق المفاهيم المكتسبة عمليًا، وتبادل الخبرات، واكتساب حلول قابلة للتطبيق تسهم في تحسين الممارسات الزراعية وتعزيز كفاءة إدارة الموارد الطبيعية.

يأتي مشروع "القرى الذكية" بتمويل من مؤسسة دروسوس، وينفذه مركز البيئة والتنمية للإقليم العربي وأوروبا (سيداري) بالتعاون مع وزارة الزراعة واستصلاح الاراضي - جمهورية مصر العربية ، ومعهد بحوث الإرشاد الزراعي، في إطار الجهود الرامية إلى دعم المجتمعات الريفية، وتعزيز التنمية الزراعية المستدامة، ونشر تطبيقات الزراعة الذكية مناخياً بما يسهم في مواجهة تحديات تغير المناخ وتحقيق الأمن الغذائي.

Towards More Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Agriculture: CEDARE Concludes a Training Program on Climate-Smart Agriculture

The Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) has successfully concluded a training program held from 19 to 24 August 2026 in Al Brombel Village, Atfih district, Giza governorate. The program was implemented under the project "Promoting Economic Independence and Community Resilience through Climate-Smart Agriculture and Innovative Technologies (Smart Villages)." It aimed to strengthen farmers' capacities and promote the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices, contributing to improved agricultural productivity, more efficient use of natural resources, and enhanced resilience of rural communities to climate change.

The training program focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to implement climate-smart agriculture principles. It covered best practices in sustainable soil and water management, techniques for improving irrigation efficiency and optimizing water use, and sustainable farming practices that enhance productivity. In addition, the program addressed integrated pest management, proper agricultural waste management and recycling, and approaches to strengthening climate change adaptation while promoting more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems.

The program adopted a comprehensive training approach that combined both theoretical and practical components. Participants had the opportunity to apply the concepts they learned through hands-on activities, exchange experiences, and explore practical solutions that can be implemented to improve agricultural practices and enhance the sustainable management of natural resources.
The project aims to strengthen rural communities by promoting sustainable agricultural development and advancing the adoption of climate-smart agriculture practices. Through capacity building, technological innovation, and community engagement, the initiative contributes to enhancing climate resilience, improving agricultural productivity, and supporting national efforts to address climate change while advancing food security.

The Smart Villages project is funded by the Drosos Foundation and implemented by the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and the Agricultural Extension Research Institute.
