🇪🇺🤝🇪🇬 Egypt is not only joining the green energy transition; it was at the very start and is to date shipping to the whole world! 🌍🚢

Ambassador Eichhorst and Guido Clary, EIB Regional Director visited the groundbreaking green hydrogen facilities in Ain Sokhna.

What started in 2022 as Egypt’s very first operational green hydrogen plant is now rapidly scaling up into a global clean energy powerhouse.

Led by Scatec and Fertiglobe, this massive expansion is backed by a historic 20-year H2Global supply agreement, €42 million in EU grants, and a powerful €500 million financing package powered by the EIB and EBRD.

By transforming Suez and Ain Sokhna into premier hubs for renewable fuel, the EU-Egypt partnership is actively building the clean maritime and industrial infrastructure of tomorrow.

🇪🇺🤝🇪🇬 Strengthening partnerships from Brussels to Cairo to the Suez Canal

EU Ambassador Eichhorst discussed with Major General Hany Rashad, Governor of Suez, mutual development goals and ways to advance the robust partnership between the European Union and Egypt.

The discussions, joined by EIB Regional Director Guido Clary, focused on driving sustainable economic development, tapping into Suez’s strategic maritime and logistical potential, and fostering clean energy initiatives.

Together, the EU and Egyptian regional and local authorities continue to invest in creating transformative opportunities, modernising key infrastructure, and ensuring shared regional stability.

What many don’t realize is that it originated in Cyprus, officially bearing its name, and was an essential part of Cypriot culture and cuisine.

Today, it’s enjoyed in kitchens across the globe.🇨🇾

🎓 A stronger TVET system for better skills and opportunities!

Today, the European Union joined Egyptian partners and international stakeholders for the launch of Egypt’s National Framework of Indicators for Measuring the Quality of the TVET System, led by Egypt’s National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ETQAAN).

The new framework provides a common reference to measure performance, identify gaps and support evidence-based improvements, helping align skills development with Egypt’s evolving economy and labour market.

🇪🇺 For more than two decades, the European Union has been a strong and steady partner of Egypt's TVET reform, supporting governance, curricula, teacher training and quality assurance.
