After more than two decades of planning and construction, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) officially opened its doors in November 2025. According to Egyptian Streets, the museum is located just outside Cairo, near the Giza Plateau, and spans over 500,000 square meters, larger than Vatican City.

It was designed to house Egypt’s vast archaeological heritage in a modern, world-class facility that connects directly to the pyramids via a new tourist walkway.
